upcoming shows by The Derailers, Unknown Hinson and Wayne The Train Hancock.
Raleigh's newest live music venue, Hideaway BBQ is almost complete and ready to present the best in Traditional Country, Honky Tonk, Rockabilly, Americana, Bluegrass, and Roots music. It is located at 2210 Capital Blvd, 1/2 mile inside the beltline (at the 3rd traffic light), next to Bobby Murray Chevrolet. The website is www.hideawaybbq.com. It is still under construction but does have some cool stuff already.
This a really beautiful venue. You won't even believe how beautiful this place is. The food will be top notch plus they will have all of the ABC licenses. Throughout the building, there are all kinds of show posters, signed guitars, and photos of treasured musicians. It will take you a long time just to look at all of the cool stuff on the walls. Oh yeah, I almost forgot...the men's bathroom door has a painting of Johnny Cash and the ladies' bathroom door has a painting of June Carter Cash. Very cool!!!
Because of licensing not being assured of being finished on time, the first weekend's bands at Hideaway BBQ will be presented as "private" parties. For a $10 donation at the door you get an all-you-can-eat bbq and sides buffet and all-you-can-drink beer/sodas on Friday Oct. 6 and Saturday Oct. 7 plus some great live music. The shows cannot be advertised since they are "private" (really they are open to anyone that shows up) so please spread the word. Below is the full schedule.
Friday Oct. 6 Steve Howell Band 9 PM show 8 PM doors
Saturday Oct. 7 Early Show: Jeff Black 6 PM show 5 PM doors
Late Show: Ruthie & The Wranglers 9 PM show 8 PM doors
Here's the rest of what I have booked so far. Needless to say, I am really proud of the bands that are coming to town. You may not have heard of all of the bands but I assure you that you will like them if you like good roots music. Shows will generally start at 9 PM, unless noted. Ticket prices will range from $5 to $15. There will also be a special "Dinner & A Show" price, which will be $10 above the ticket price and will include your choice of a variety of bbq styles.

"all-you-can-drink" beer seems a little sketchy (and illegal) but you know, whatever. 9/26/2006 2:31:28 PM |

i thought private parties couldn't have alcohol if they charged admission. . . seems like they're bending some rules. but i'm sure it won't make a big difference if they only do it for a week or whatever. 9/26/2006 2:38:28 PM |

So they're going make everyone leave at 7/7:30, then reopen at 8 & you'd have to repay to get it?
That doesn't seem to include much time to drink all you can.

They should book the Good Ole Boys.
Seriously though, it looks like a nice place but it also looks nothing like a music venue and it's in a totally weird place and the parking is a little lacking depending on how many people can be expecting to cram in. The bathroom paintings sound nice, though .
I am concerned, however, about all this "sauce" talk. It's written as if the sauce is an add-on to the chopped BBQ, which would make it NOT eastern style, which would mean I'd never go there.
