it pissed me off to no end..especially the part in the rocket ship, where you had to get the musical tones just right...FUCK YOU MYST...FUCK YOU...oh I would try to quit, but it keep pulling me back..I just had to beat it. Finally I did...and was so disappointed by the ending

I really did not find Myst too hard... the new Myst for the Xbox was fucking insane kick-you-in-the-ass hard from the first clue

If you want to be technical, the sequel was called Riven. There was no game called Myst II.

"The Sequel to Myst" is the sub title. The main title is just "Riven" The subtitle wasn't even included in most official licensing. The only reason those words appear like that is the significance the number 5 had to the game.

myst was amazing. riven was good. you had to learn a new number system for riven, other then that is was fairly easy.

as if myst wasn't hard enough, riven had to go and take it to 7 CDs worth of fucking clues and puzzles

i also read through the guide to solve the game. Sure it's cheating, but the guide told you what do to in a really cool story-like narrative, which made it interesting as opposed to a step-by-step click-here guide.

Both games are beautiful and strange at the same time.

at the time, Myst's graphics were amazing...now if you play some XBox 360 games or high end PC games, Myst looks like shit

I don't remember, but was it possible to lose risk? I don't mean pick the wrong ending..but was it possible to put yourself in a position where the key to the puzzle was destroyed or something

There are plenty of puzzles you can do wrong and have to start that puzzle/world over, and there are a number of things that result in getting locked in a place with no way out, so yes.

I coudlnt get it, had a friend look at it.

he got it with no hand notes in minutes.

he went on to be the best guitar player ive ever met.

imagine that.

i played through myst 1 fairly easily recently (maybe 3 years ago)

the tones bit wasn't a problem at all for me. but i do have some musical training in my background.

the sequels though are fairly ridiculous. the clues that bugged me in the sequels were the ones that were impossible to see -- so you ended up just randomly clicking everywhere.
