Hearing that Toney is a little more than just disappointed that Andre is starting and getting significantly more carries than he is (mostly about the carries...he thought it would be a little more even). I have been told that he's contemplating transferring. He's not looking at other schools yet, but it's definitely on his mind.

I guess I can't blame him, but I wish kids would stick it out a little more these days. You've got to look at what could possibly happen. Andre could get hurt or he could leave after his junior year and Toney would be the main tailback again. Or Toney could get a little better and they could split carries evenly like Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams did. I still guess it's tough coming in as a 4/5-star tailback and still playing second fiddle as a sophomore.

Okay first of all Bobby Washington wasn't "really good".

If Baker is leaving because he thinks he'd be a full-time starter at a similar school then he's probably wrong.

If he's leaving because he thinks he could transfer almost anywhere and play behind a better offensive line then he's probably right.

And he's not "leaving" yet...he's just thinking about it. It's not something that he's going to announce this week. Definitely a "wait til the season is over"....but he's unhappy with the way the carries are being spread out.

Brown is one of the best RB's in college football.

Baker is pretty solid but he doesnt create as much on his own. He needs help from the o-line which we can't really give him.

We need all the offense we can get we can't afford to waste too many carries on him...

I'm not denying that Toney may be upset, but it doesn't seem like there is that much of a disparity between the carries, etc.

Where did you get this information?

Besides, Toney is a better receiver than Brown and is getting more reps a game.

Toney fumbled the ball to lose his starting job last year. He fumbled the ball to lose more carries this year. If there's one thing we KNOW brown will do its holding onto the ball.

Baker is getting lots of touches. He's also a step slower than Brown, which doesnt help things when our offensive line sucks asshole. I feel like he needs to get up on his toes a little more when he runs and that might help him get that step back that he seemed to have in high school.

Its not like Brown is getting enough carries either. They both need over 10 and one of them needs 20 carries a game.

I called it when he came here. I said he'd never see a snap at quarterback and would be gone in a year.

making a prediction anyone could have made is not credibility. And why would your source be talking to you and not the 100s of people more connected in this realm with credibility?

Let's see the difference:

"Greco will never see a snap at QB...he's too much of an athlete. If all he wants to do is play QB, he will probably end up transferring." (said during Greco's first year here)

and...

"Greco is going to be transferring from NC State." (said about 2 months before Greco announced his transfer during a time when NOTHING was being said about his transfer)

There's a difference. I don't have time to go back and find every statement I've made about "rumors" about our basketball and football programs...nor do I think you're worth it. If you want to discredit me, do it yourself. You can take the rest of the stuff I say for a grain of salt. That's your choice.

Just be glad we got a 4 star recruit from NC...one that didn't go to UNC. He is a bruiser that will get us big touchdowns in the red zone if nothing else. We need this guy to take some pressure of Brown too. I don't know how true it is but we can't lose this guy.

He is talking about last year when we had Brown, Baker, Blackman, Reggie Davis, and Washington all fighting for PT. Also Jamelle Eugene came on strong in spring practice so in reality we had 6 good RBs at one point.

I can't believe this thread is being taken seriously. This is a fucking joke. I talked to Toney's sister yesterday and she said he's very happy in his current situation. And I trust her word more than that of some douchebag on TWW and his "special friend with inside information"

^ ^ Regardless of his disposition, she's not going to tell you he's not enjoying his current role, especially in the middle of the season.

Anyway, All Rb's were given an equal amount of time to display their talents last season, and I think the coaches made solid calls in moving Blackman to WR and keeping B & B at RB. Davis to LB was a no brainer if he wanted an ounce of playing time this year, it was a win win for that guy. Washington transferring didn't hurt us I don't think, as he is an east-west runner like Booker at FSU. Oh yea, Amato saw TA fumble often, and now that he's in the postion of leverage, whom do you think is going to get the majority of the reps??? Would anyone see it differently? Has Brown even lost a fumble in 1 1/3 seasons?

I think we are working very well together. We both have accepted our roles, as far as how much I carry the rock and how much he carries the rock. We block for each other. We're going to make it happen."

It's great. I don't need 32 carries and neither does 'Bake.' I couldn't give you as much on my 32nd carry as 'Bake' can on his first carry. We went in and talked about and we're just going to explode. We don't need a thousand carries. "

has he seen what Andre has done this year? AB is amazing. TB should be happy with what he gets behind Andre's dominance.

^High school All-American running backs should be happy to be playing second fiddle on a mediocre team???

Guys who are used to being "the man" are never happy when they are 2nd string. Jesus Christ you're retarded.

if you add the number of receptions that Baker is getting along with his carries, he touches the ball more than Brown...

at this point, he needs to realize that the guy in front of him is "the man" and that he should be happy with what he gets. He is no longer "the man"...get over it

if he transfers, its most likely gonna be to a worse team where his shot at making the NFL could be greatly reduced. Who is to say that he would start (or have a better o-line) if he tranfered?

In games other than the Akron game where Brown was hurt...there are the comparison in carries for Brown against Baker:

ASU 15 to 11
USM 13 to 4
BC 13 to 5

Discounting the Akron game, Baker has 4 more catches than Brown. So even overall, Brown still has a lot more touches. But I don't think that is what Baker is worried about. He didn't come to NC State to be a 2nd string/pass catching tailback. He came to be THE tailback. Then he saw that Brown was pretty good and said..."hey, we can split carries like Brown and Williams at Auburn." Now he's looking at at getting one out of every 4 or 5 carries...and Brown's not getting any worse and Baker's not getting any better.

That would be my logic if I were in Baker's shoes.

well, I think it was either us, UNC, or UVA out of HS for him, and they are doing much worse than we are, and Duke could bite UVA this week, so I think he made the best choice out of HS of the teams he considered seriously. I got no idea where he would think about transferring and having to sit a year. Brown is also three years removed from high school come May

Oh I agree that's what he should do....but I don't think he will. It's hard for a guy to come in as one of the top backs in the country be relegated to 2nd string with a guy who's in your class.

I hope he realizes that transferring could possibly set him back even more and that he should just wait it out and work even harder. I think there's a good possibility Andre could be gone after three years and with NC State's luck, he'll probably get injured a couple times in the next few years (knock on wood).

I'm also not too worried about losing him. I want him to stay, but it won't set us back that much if he leaves. I like Eugene and good RBs are a dime a dozen.
