tire wear was very very even across the surface. no abnormalties or bubbles.

^^^^how much track time did you get? When I went to a HPDE there I got about 90 laps for $175. Definitely a fun fast track thats easy for people that aren't experienced with tracks yet.

def. a fun track. gets boring real fast though.

but you cant beat it with seat-time.com events.

specially when its less than $100 for solo

2 days. 4 sessions each day. First session of both days was 25 minutes long...then each session after that is 20minutes...plus 4 classes (45minutes long)

I also had a chance to take a couple of ride alongs....one was with my instructor in his 996...talk about fast

This was the first time I enjoyed Roebling, I really need to go back there and nail in some faster times... Currently running 1.29.03 I believe was my fastest timed lap (hit on Saturday odd enough). I'm leaving around 2-3 secs on the table.

Do they require roll cages on S2000s at the NASA events? I think I see a silver one in one of those pics.

I looked at their website and it looked like stock S2000s "may" be allowed, but I have a feeling it's up to the event organizers in each region.

It's up to the track, I think. VIR is pretty strict. From the Chin website:
Quote :
"CONVERTIBLES/ROADSTERS/CABRIOLETS

* VIR has a requirement for fixed 4-point (or better) roll bars, or 3-point hoops behind the seat for roadsters.
Street convertibles and cabriolets with OEM roll protection are generally NOT ACCEPTED.
This a strict track standard that CMS must adhere to.

Ahmet don't you think its about time to take the tape and numbers off your doors? or does that make the car faster on the way to school?

I drove w/my rcomps on the street for a few days too. The transponder's still on the car. Laugh away. It's OK, everybody has a little bit of ricer in them. I don't mind advertising that I do track events, not much different than leaving my tech sticker on the car, or the 'trackschedule.com' sticker or whatever else. It's a bit more of an eyesore, but they will come off, I just didn't rush to do it.

I don't see what'd be illegal about #s on the car when it's legal to have all sorts of crazy graphics, neons, etc. on cars. It's probably not the smartest thing if you're going to drive like an idiot.

Anyone know about Roebling Rd?

Roebling will allow convertables with "factory rollover protection." (if the club does) Nasa allows it in the lower run groups. This would include s2000s, boxsters, mini convs, z4, slk, etc. It, for example, would not allow a 1st/ 2nd gen miata without an aftermarket bar.... VIR is notoriously strict about roll bars BUT I was instructing there last monday for a PCA club and in that case they were allowing boxsters to run. (PCA national organizers have made it clear that they want boxsters allowed). To boot, I have discussed with NASA higher ups about allowing a Z4 to run with them at VIR in a lower run group to which they agreed. So I can only imagine that an argument could be made to get an s2000 out at VIR.

dont waste your time and money good sir.

unless its free.

you arent going to be using those quick autoX hands on the track IMO. unless you are losing control. then its just hope you dont hit that wall.

yeah i guess you're right...but it can still be fun and cheap if its close by every now and then. man i miss the track already most fun i've ever had ever in a car.

next time out i'll be in HPDE-2 so hopefully that will be more fun and less traffic jams

level 2 is a bit better. but it all depends on how many cars are out there.

yeah thats what my instructor said too. in HPDE-1 we had about 30 cars out there...and everyone was at their first track event ever. engin and I included so there was always bad jams where the slow car wouldn't give a point by or would wait too long...but by the second day things got a lot better.

Neither, the LTW only came as a coupe. It's just a motorsports flag.

Not everyone was at their first event ever in level one. My student was at his 4th event. I think for you guys its more of an issue of being in a very capable car v. the majority of the field which is in low powered, unmodified, shitty tired street cars. My student was quite good, but simply isnt going to lap that fast in a stock miata. Don't take all the credit away from the other drivers in your group.

by far the biggest change going from the noob group to intermediate was awareness and traffic management. even w/ a variety of cars and skill levels, everything seems to flow much nicer. the beginner group was always a mess

I think its a bigger step going from intermediate to advanced personally. Intermediate just felt like begginer to me, thats mostly with thscc though.

well yeah...open passing vs. point bys in designated areas is a huge step up...for me personally. I won't be ready for open passing for many many many track events to come. at least a whole seasons worth and then some lol

yeah but in group 2 there are still other cars with instructors.

plus in group 3, you can pass anywhere. other driver still "points by".
