OK so I'm going to Atlanta for business and I was wondering if anybody had some suggestions as to what part of town to get a hotel in (preferably near some cool bars) and what parts of ATL to avoid. I'm not trying to get caught in the ghetto.

Buckhead and Midtown are good, as is Virginia Highlands. Downtown is getting better, but its still pretty bad and I wouldn't stay down there as there isn't as much to do. You best bet is to stay in Buckhead, there are plenty of fine restaurants, good hotels, and some cool bars. Avoid anything south, soutwest, westish of downtown.

If you're concerned for safety then whatever you do stay the fuck away from Buckhead.

Its like a bad rap video and is pretty dangerous for theiving and kniving. You can pick up girls like nobodies business if you've got some money, good lucks, and game though because theres not many white guys around the area.

The girls in Atlanta overall are smoking hot. My recommendation is to pass on the smoking hot ones though and skip right to the dirties. I had a threesome July 4th a few years ago with a 37 year old and 28 year old that werent bad looking at all.

But seriously i spent $200 on drinks at the club and feared for my life walking out of there and my buddy was arrested for literally not doing anything.

Its not a good scene. Midtown is where you wanna go. Again, bring money and good lucks.

Buckhead is not that bad. Most out of towners freak out over it because they aren't used to it. It gets a little crazy on the weekends around 2am, but other than that you will be fine. I live in Buckhead, I know.

I'm getting the vibe that ANY out of towners fucking piss their pants over Atlanta. Then again, I realize a lot of NC Staters have never left freaking Raleigh. I grew up in Atlanta and could walk around alone fine no problem, just don't look like you have shit to steal and don't look like a victim. Try being nice too, there's a lot of whacko blacks there but if you stop and have a laugh with them they're alright. As with the above, midtown is nice and your best bet. Virginia Highlands is probably the safest and nicest area, but that's because it's where all the gays live. Go to the Tabernacle for a show.

Look ive partied up and down the east coast and ATL is the scariest place ive ever been.

Not to mention just the intense amount of gays there. ANd they do not fuck around they will straight hit on you non stop.


The people in here saying its not scary are the ones who visited the Coke Museum at 3 PM and went out for drinks til 9 PM in midtown.

Not the ones who walk miles to buckhead, leave the club at close with shady sluts, and get back to the hotel at 9 AM.

First of all there are MILES of cars bumping rap music in standstill traffic. The streets are packed so that you can barely move. Everybody is talking shit to everybody. All you can hear is bass. You are so fucked up that if you drive its tough to deal with all the traffic. If you walk good luck with your life. ATL public transportation shuts down early. There are gay people all over the city trying to get you to suck their dick in exchange for a ride home. The drug deals are shady as hell. If you get arrested it literally takes the ENTIRE next day to get processed.

Fuck Atlanta i doubt i will ever go out there again.

And thats really on about a 1/2 square mile area around the ESPN Zone. The other places are fine. If you think thats scary, then you have been really sheltered. I took a few wrong turns in Detroit once and actually got lost in one of those places you honestly only see on TV that are straight up gang ghetto. Now that is some scary shit, not what you are talking about. Listen, I live in Buckhead, and see the shit on almost a nightly basis, sure there are a shit ton of people, but its not fucking Raleigh, so I don't know what you really expect.

ive spent a bunch of nights in brooklyn... like red hook even... i dunno i was just more aware of my surroundings in atlanta....

you know how when you walk out of a bar/club in manhattan how its calm at night? its just the complete opposite in ATL. no one can afford to go IN the clubs so they have the party outside of the clubs in their cars. And they stand out the sunroof and yell shit and drink Hennessy.

You might be from a tough area but its different when you live there and know whats up... totally different to be a visitor.
