As much as I think sex scandals are crap, you might want to be concerned if political leaders were looking the other way while a teenager was being victimized.

I am not saying that I know for sure that there were victims or there was any looking the other way. If there is, however, its not quite the same as convering up consensual sex between two adults.

The funny thing is that almost all the talk about the foley scandal is about how it affects the election. They're not even talking about the substance of the scandal itself much except where it relates to specific races. It's like the media isn't even bothering with any pretense about the events themselves being as important as how people are reacting to them.

The effects on the various races though are primarily due to the ammount of coverage this is getting. It's like they're creating their own feeding frenzy. They talk about how this will hurt republicans in certain areas. Then they do polls showing that it's hurting those candidates. Then they talk about the polls and how much it's hurting republicans again...

I'm all for change in congress but damnit I hate our newsmedia. It's not so much that they're biased (they all are I know.) The whole institution has become this insane self-generating monster. The lewinksi scandal... anything to do with the jacksons... now the foley case. Even when these sensationalized stories contain real news, the bastards bury it under BS coverage until they start doing stories about how they're doing too many stories on it. You guys remember CNN and other outlets doing stories on how everyone was doing too many stories on the lewinksi thing right? How long until we see headlines "Media Obsessed with Sex and the Foley Scandal?"

It really blows my mind that the media will milk something until the very fact that they're milking it becomes news!
