anyone got an opinion on some of the cheap LCD TV's that have come out lately?

I just caught this one today, and since I have little to know idea what to look for with a flat-panel TV, I figured I'd ask here. I'm looking for a good balance between cheap and nice quality.

yeah, but i'm not terribly comfortable with it being a Tiger Direct deal, never mind that it's an off brand TV. i was hoping to see what others might recommend, or suggest avoiding.

That TV is great, I ended up buying one on Capital. No problems, and if you're worried, any time before 1 month prior to the manufacturer's warranty running out you can extend the warranty by 2 years after the TV's warranty for $179. Not bad for peace of mind. It looks great, not perfect for a computer monitor, but I can read it from my bed across the room.

At least one company is about to introduce a 42 inch diagonal HDTV format flat plasma panel multisystem color TV/monitor which will accept input from almost any video or computer source. Its price at introduction will be more than that of a typical new automobile - about $15,000

Vizio is Sumsung's more affordable brand of LCD TVs. My friend just purchased a 32" for around 700-800 which is pretty good, and of course it supports all the HD modes. I was actually impressed with the image quality and asthetics of the TV.

Key things you wanna look for is Contrast Ratio, the higher the better... more things are listed here: http://www.cnet.com/4520-7874_1-5102926-1.html
