Just thought this was worth noting...(got it from another board)

A.J. Smith traded Eli in exchange for

* Philip Rivers (4th overall pick)

* a 2004 3rd round pick, used to select Nate Kaeding

* a 2005 1st round pick, which became the 12th overall, and was used to take Shawne Merriman, and

* a 2005 5th round pick, which was traded away for OT Roman Oben.



Not too bad.
