Its not a Vette if a fucking Camaro can whoop that ass. I'm a damn GM man, but its ridiculous to call THIS a fucking Vette. It has nothing in common with a Vette. It has more in common with the Camaro, since they will both at least have the same engines.

I think they should do a Chevy Something, but NOT Corvette.

Yet another POS from Chevy.
...just like everything else GM and Ford make.

IF Chevrolet can do for a v6 small roadster what they did for the Pushrod V8 Corvette, I more than welcome this addition to the corvette namesake, although I definitely think it ought to be called something else, just to avoid confusing people and diluting the brand.

What the Camaro? Sorry Optimus but its a done deal on that. You'll see them on the road whoopin' that ass in about another year.

^Noen the turbo 4 is pretty bad and get fucking better mileage than the N/A 4.

Oh sorry gotcha, I was like WTF.

And I do agree this is fucking stupid to take a Vette name and throw it on a completely different car.

even if GM puts a v6 in the existing corvette, it would be catastrophic. it wont happen.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't all vettes have v-6s during the first two years of production?

Regardless, the idea of doing it again blows.

If it was light enough, I wouldn't have a problem. But it won't be.

some sort of turbo charged V6 would be fine by me... something actually built strong enough to handle some serious upgrades.. comparable to the supra engine or something

No. They didn't have V6s. They had the old 235 Stovebolt straight six. Very heavy engine, not a whole lot of power.

Then came the small block.

I think a well-designed V6 is a very viable option, if for nothing else, size and weight reduction. Now, granted, I would like it to be a veritable technological marvel and work of art, but since when has Chevy ever truly built one of those?

Now if it's built on the Northstar platform (like the CTS engine or the now-defunct Olds Intrigue), that might be worthwhile.

I seriously think that an all-aluminum V6 would actually be a better choice for balance and moment of inertia issues. It's one of the configurations I would choose if I were to actually do an engine swap in my Datsun Z. And that would be a fun project.

Why the hell would you want to do that? That car's heavy enough as it is. The last thing it needs is more weight hanging over the front wheels.

And that engine is beefy enough. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe turbocharged Ecotec engines have dynoed over 1000hp (in drag racing applications)

I think somebody's got their info mixed up. They wouldn't ever make a corvette based on the Kappa platform. It's just gonna be a roadster, just like the solstice and sky... but heavier.

i hear that their ecotec or whatever isn't too shabby
honestly though the blown mustangs are the only things close to pupra over built right now.

Like I said, if they could pull off the same caliber of Corvette tuning to this platform, it would be cool to see. Yes the car is currently heavy and the balance isn't the best. GM hasn't exactly unleashed their ALMS teams on it yet either.

And a 1000hp drag application != production capable.

Now if I see a Lingenfelter or Callaway come out with with even a 700+hp conversion, I'll eat my words.

Aurora's the V8 fullsize Northstar platform variant. The Intrigue has the 3.5L "Shortstar" V6 variant of the Northstar platform.

^^^Brian what are you talking about? You can already get a turbo on that car.

And I was just showing the strength of the Ecotec engine with my example...duur!
