delhomme vs baltimore

rivers vs 49ers

seems like an easy choice to me.

As much as I love Rivers, Delhomme had a pretty fantastic day.

^^ I think he was implying that Delhomme was the easy choice...

Putting up great numbers is a bigger deal when you're up against a real defense.

^ Perhaps he meant that Rivers was comfortable, therefore not taking any pressure, therfore Delhomme was more impressive.

have to figure in Rivers decent performance despite relative lack of experience as well...Rivers 6th game vs. a QB with superbowl exposure.

plus if DelHomme did this without Steve Smith, it would be a no-brainer

If Rivers had done this without LT...would be alot more impressive too.

My vote is Delohmme, but Rivers had a helluva game too

the problem is that rivers was passing against the 49ers defense, and delhomme faced the ravens. they both had 2 touchdowns, but jake threw 1 pick. it's cool seeing that they both had 39 attempts and the yardage is so similiar.

honestly, delhomme had a better peformance based on numbers, but i can't stand the guy (whiner). philip might've had bigger numbers if san diego wasn't kicking so much ass. also, jake got alot of help from steve smith who got wide open and gave him huge chunks of yards. philip really also got a big boost from antonio gates' big td, but most of his passes were short-medium lasers. most importantly, philip's my boy, so i had to give him my vote.

Okay, then take away Steve Smith and see what Jake can do.

Delhomme sucks and I like the Panthers.

was jake's like 2 td and 2 picks? in that case, philip has a stronger case.

\/ ah.

in games that LT isn't heavily used/Turner is put in to run, Riv does just as well. take Steve away and Delhomme spazzes out and throws it to where Steve's shadow is.

Shit, Riv hasn't even begun using McCardell yet. wait until he does.

switch philip and jake, and let's see how they do. philip would fucking break all kinds of records if he were with the panthers.

So in essence that question was already posed. Both players put up huge number but had alot of assistance with their star players...Not that it is a bad thing...

I love the Panthers, but damn Jake sucks

It's not like McCardell is some weapon that is waiting to be unleashed, he's an old man than can still make pretty good plays.

Rivers has found his favorite reciever, and his name is Parker.

the only star player to help philip was antonio gates on his 50-something yard td catch and run. for receivers philip has some journeymen, several guys who make good possession receivers, and lt is good for short gains on swing passes or dumps. iirc, philip connected with 7 different receivers vs. both the 49ers and steelers. that means he really doesn't have that go-to guy, playmaker (jake has 2). yet, he's able to find the seams and put up some big numbers.

People...Rivers is a good qb and will end up being great. But he is def supported by a solid O-line, a great defense a #1 RB and #1 TE

Delhomme has a great Defense and a Great Reciever....No fucking RB...

Rivers will end up greater than Delhomme, but for now...Delhomme has been to SB....and NFC championship twice right?

i'm not trying to give delhomme a hard time or anything, but he's seriously not very good. i know you saw that touchdown to smith where he was absolutely wide open and the ball was thrown ~10 yards short of him. good thing for delhomme he's fast as hell and was able to adjust, catch and score.

granted Steve Smith can make any QB look better

that doesnt change the fact that he is 33-21 as a starter with a 5-2 postseason record, a superbowl appearance, 2 conference title game appearances, the 3rd best postseason passer rating in NFL history, and that the only QBs to win more games than him since 2002 are McNabb, Peyton and Brady

they're my 2 favorite QBs so I'm not trying to give either of them shit

but we're talking about the Ravens' defense versus the 49ers defense here...RAVENS...49ERS...DEFENSE

I beg to differ. Rivers threw plenty of dink and dunk passes that got a lot of YAC.

Good passes, but he got plenty of help from his receivers/LT also.

did you intentionally disregard the rest of my posted paragraph, or did you simply feel like retorting what i said by repeating me?

Rivers doesn't have a go-to reciever like Steve Smith, or a tremendous possession reciever like Keyshawn. But top to bottom, his recieving corps is pretty solid. Eric Parker is one of the most underrated recievers in the game. Vincent Jackson and Malcolm Floyd are two big, fast up-and-coming recievers who people will know about real soon. There's no journeymen in that group, unless you count McCardell as a journeyman. Rivers has done very well, but it's not like he is doing it all on his own. Brees went to the Pro Bowl the last 2 years with those same recievers.

Rivers is greater than all. LT wouldnt of had those 4 TD's if Rivers didn't move them down the field all the time. I was actually disappionted when they called pass interference twice in a row, preventing Rivers a TD, or anytime SD was stopped within the 5 yard line, b/c then LT would just run it in instead of getting Rivers a TD. Rivers will be a top QB within two years.

rivers is a top qb THIS year, he is one of only 2 players in the leaque right now with a qb rating over 100, and second only to Donovan Mcnabb... .his team is also at the top of their division, i think that makes him a top QB
