Styx. Also Randy Newman, who is not exactly underappreciated, but some people at a party last weekend looked at me like I ate a baby kitten when I told them that Randy Newman was a phenomenal songwriter.

how in the world would New Edition be "underappreciated"? everyone acknowledge's that "Candy Girl" is a great song and then they move on. i'd say that's an appropriate level of appreciation.

^^ I don't think MBV is under appreciated by anybody who is familiar with their music. Loveless topped Pitchfork's list of the best albums of the 1990's, too. Under recognized, maybe. I think most of my peeps are down with them, though.

^ Trans Am is consistently mediocre for me.

Yeah I was not thinking underappreciated, more underrecognized.

i think trans am may have hit a point where all their music turned to crap. i just have random songs from a number of their albums and a handful of them are pretty good.

trans am can be rather hit or miss, you are correct

but, for my money, it doesnt get much better than

with a minor boner for

Futureworld.

Are we talking about underrecognized/underappreciated by the mainstream, or underground? Because there are a shit-ton of bands that get next to zero radio play, however, their highly respected in the underground scene.
