I was leaving work to go home and heard a noise coming from my rear drivers side tire. I get out to see what it is...there is a car key sticking out of the tire! The tire went completely flat by the time I got home. What are teh odds of this happening! And my car only has 2,200 miles on it

It's not all that uncommon. Ever been in a tire shop that tosses all the tire shrapnel into big jars on the counter? All types of shit in there including keys. 10/19/2006 5:14:45 PM |

The tire warranty doesn't cover road hazards. I had to order a tire from tirerack.com ($112 shipped) 10/19/2006 5:49:03 PM |

Last year I pulled half of a compas (circle drawing device) out of a customer's tire. The sharp point all the way to where the hinge broke off was stuck in the tire. Her's was fixable though.

I took the key out and it did too much damage to plug it. The tire is a Hankook Optimo H725a (205/55/16) on a 2007 Saturn Ion quad coupe 2.4L 10/20/2006 6:55:06 AM |

i just got a new set myself, had one with two plugs in it - made it 40k miles on the factory set!
and it does matter how old the tires are. newer tires are much less likely to have a blow-out although it is possible. shit happens though, not much you can do - just try to drive on the road and avoid areas where debis collects on the side and that will help you avoid nails and shit like that. 10/20/2006 8:23:13 AM |

a couple weeks ago I picked up a nail in the left front and a screw in the left rear within 2 days of each other.
Funny thing is I had just bought an air compressor less than a week before. Bought a tire patch kit and fixed them both 10/21/2006 3:35:04 PM |
