Our team doesn't have enough depth to field both red and white teams so they're mixing in some of the women's team

i don't think so, we have enough walk-ons to make 5 on 5

the women are having their red/white game at the same time

[Edited on October 22, 2006 at 10:09 PM. Reason : we actually have enough for 6 on 6]

it going to be just like every other red/white game you've ever been to. Except the women play theirs, then the men play theirs.

They are having it during the week and on campus so hopefully they can get more students into Reynolds...

And we all love basketball in Reynolds...............

reynolds was a great place but you gotta move on and make rbc better. rbc center is much better for our program and we have one of the nicest arenas in all of college now.

more students and people can watch the games now. students surround the court are you kidding me? also club level and alot more cash. just because you hate traveling a 2 miles to watch the game doenst mean we shouldn't have it there.

i dont mind traveling to the fair grounds to the rbc center b/c if i did, i wouldnt go to football games

RBC is nice, ill give you that but the atmosphere is nothing compared to reynolds
why in the fuck do you think Duke still plays in historic Cameron Indoor

yes becuase its cameron indoor but they also don't have as many local fans and money is not an issue. nor do they have a new pro team 2 miles from campus. and they have students all around the court there.

The atmosphere is still up to the fans. If we were as loud as the people back in the day at reynolds, rbc could get pretty loud (not as loud as reynolds but loud enough) but we aren't even loud anymore so it doesn't matter anyway.

It's not distance dumbass. It is atmosphere. Duke could make so much more money and fill a new RBC type arena, but they don't because they woudl be ruining something good. Reynold's was like that. Reynold's was just like that.

Some of you may have forgotten this, but the RBC Center set the decibel record for an indoor arena when the Hurricanes were in the playoffs.

Quote :
"According to The Hockey News, an unofficial reading of 134 decibels was measured during Game 7 of the 2006 Stanley Cup Finals against the Edmonton Oilers. It is the loudest reading ever at an American sporting event."

I've seen the decibel meter that they put on the big screen in the 120+ decibel range for State basketball games. Cameron's decibel record is 125 or 126 if I remember correctly. To say that the RBC Center can't be just as intimidating as Reynolds was is a flat out lie. Just last year GT player Jeremis Smith proclaimed that the RBC Center is just as tough to play in as Duke. Even David Noel talked about how bad our fans are to opposing players. He said something to the effect of "At Duke you'll look out into the crowd and see something that will make you laugh. At State you might look out into the crowd and see something that'll make you want to cry. They're out to hurt your feelings and get your head out of the game." If we'd consistently fill the place up for not just the big games maybe our reputation at the RBC Center would grow. Most of the other players in the conference already think State is one of the toughest places to play, right up there with Maryland and Duke. I love the RBC Center, and I love Reynolds, but the RBC Center is state of the art (it's practically an NBA arena with a student section) and is massive. The sheer size of the place impresses recruits and visiting fans, and intimidates visiting players that don't normally play in such large venues. Brackman said he didn't know much about State when he was being recruited, but he remembers driving up and seeing this massive building rise up out of nowhere, and that he was very impressed. Besides the obvious aesthetic values that the RBC Center brings it is truly a great arena that balances luxury for the big spenders, and need to serve the more common man. There are 75 luxury suites and 2,000 club seats, which bring in a lot of money to State. The concourses are huge, which allows for easier entry and exit of the fans, which is much better than the track size concourse at Reynolds. There are 16 men's and 21 women's restrooms, as well as "Family" restrooms. Face it we're not moving back to Reynolds. I would love nothing more than to have at least our ACC/Big 10 game or another big OOC game held there each year instead of the "Heritage" game against Cupcake College. I guess we should be thankful that we have even that, but I wish they would put the old style steating back in there.

Duke will play in Cameron forever because, surprisingly, they make more money staying there than moving to a new bigger arena with more seats. Why? Because of the amount of money people have to fork out just to have the right to get a seat, and then pay for the season tickets.

A guy my dad is really close to gave up his season tickets 2 years ago b/c his daughter was getting into horseback riding. he needed the extra money for her to pursue her interests and he said he would have anyway b/c of how high the price was getting. I know that just for the rights to the seats he was paying in the neighborhood of 5,000 or more a year. That doesn't include ticket prices for each game he had to buy, which is b/t 45-65 dollars depending on the game. And he didn't even have great seats. In one of the corners about 2/3 of the way up. Can you imagine what the best seats in the stadium go for?

duke would actuallly lose money going to a bigger arena b/c they couldn't get away w/ charging so much for seat rights or game tickets if there were plenty of seats to go around.

What is that supposed to mean?

Reynolds was built using the same plans as Cameron, they just added more of the modular sections so that Reynolds would be bigger.

Who cares about Duke?

The RBC center was quiet because the basketball our team played was total shit.

It'll still be quiet because the basketball we play this year will probably continue to be shit, if not faster paced.

the men and women are playing alternating halves

women's 1st half - men's 1st half - women's 2nd half - men's 2nd half

Quote :
"What: N.C. State Red-White men's and women's basketball scrimmages

When: 7 p.m. today. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Where: Reynolds Coliseum. Only 7,000 will be admitted.

Admission: Free

Noteworthy: New men's coach Sidney Lowe, the point guard who helped the Wolfpack win the 1983 NCAA title, introduces fans to his first team. Senior guard Engin Atsur and junior forward Gavin Grant return from the team that finished 22-10 last season, 10-6 in the ACC. Fans will get their first look at freshman forward Dennis Horner, center Bartosz Lewandowski and guard Trevor Ferguson, who transferred to NCSU in January.

Lowe said, "When I look at this team, I see somewhat of a young team. But I also see talent. I see some guys I feel can get the job done."

Format: The men's team and the women's team, under veteran coach Kay Yow, will compete in alternating 20-minute scrimmages."

It is pretty weaksauce.

If you're trying to gain support for the women's team then shoving it down people's throats is not the best way to go about it.

That's not how UConn, Duke, Tenn, etc. got to where they are.

They got there by.......gasp....winning.

if u've ever been in Cameron, you can agree that theres not a bad seat in the house.

as much as I hate duke, it really is amazing that such a top tier program plays in a gym only slightly bigger than my high school.

there is plenty of seating in there, i wouldn't expect it to fill up

if you want to sit on the bottom with the students, i would plan on getting there around 7, if you want center seating, get there a few minutes before 7
