My favorite all-time bass solo would have to be that break in the middle of Ben Folds Five "Song for the Dumped". It blew my mind when it I was 14. I bet it still would, I'll go put it on.

I should point out that I'm not talking about bass solos. Victor Wooten is a great bassists, but he doesn't play anything that would really count for the purpose of this thread.

I know that Jamerson has been mentioned, and rightfully so, but I've always liked "You Can't Hurry Love" a whole lot. It's simple, but it's not quite as simple as you think...it jumps ahead of the change for two beats in the middle of the chorus and it makes the song.
