for those going be sure to check out the famous UVA tailgating organization known as Wilk Hall.
http://www.wilkhall.com/

Scott Stadium
Capacity - 61,500
Record Crowd (against Duke of all teams) - 61,737
Traditions:
-Cavalier riding a horse swinging a sabre over his head leading the team on the field, fun fact in 1974 this tradition ended when UVA installed artificial turf, but returned in 1995 when natural grass was put back in place.

-Like at many SEC venues traditionally at UVA males wear coats and ties and females wear sundresses to games, but Groh has tried to change that by getting the fans to wear orange t-shirts.
-Student seating on The Hill

-The Good Old Song
UVA students lock arms and swing back and forth to this song that is based on Auld Lang Syne; UVA students came into controversy in past years when they would yell "NOT GAY" during part of the song, the UVA administration has seriously tried to put an end to this embarassing act

Quote :
"That good old song of
Wah-hoo-wah
We'll sing it o'er and o'er
It cheers our hearts and
warms our blood
To hear them shout and roar.
We come from Old Virginia,
Where all is bright and gay.
Let's all join hands and give a yell
For the dear old UVa
Wah-hoo-wah,
Wah-hoo-wah.
Uni-v, Virginia,
Hoo-rah-ray,
Hoo-rah-ray,
Ray! Ray! U-V-a"

-Getting pwnt by VaTech in football often, and having their 50-yard logo defaced by Hokie fans.

-Beating FSU every 10 years.

-Mentioning Thomas Jefferson every 5 minutes.

-Acting more elitist than UNC fans, yeah it's amazing that that is even possible. Just read this crap of a story by a UVA student proclaiming why they should wear ties and sundresses.

http://www.the-declaration.com/index.php?issuedate=2006-09-07&showarticle=1446

Quote :
"This Saturday, guys, put on a button-down and tie; and ladies, a sundress and string of pearls. You attend Mr. Jefferson’s University, an elite institution long-known as the public school worthy of Ivy League prestige, and neither you nor anyone who sees you should forget it. All of the orange in the local Wal-Mart won’t help the team beat Miami in November."

You can attend an elite university and still be a rabid fan. Lane, Death Valley, and Neyland are usually regarded as tougher places to play than Sanford, Bryant-Denny, and Vaught-Hemingway. The earlier three are always in people's Top 25 toughest places to play lists, while the others are hardly ever mentioned in the Top 25 lists.

wow. i guess i should have assumed that uva students would be even more full of themselves than tarheels.

it's like they mandate frattiness in the guise of tradition.

Trying to get tickets from a season ticket holder.

Is anyone going up the night before? I can't find a hotel within 50 miles of Charlottesville.

here's the solution to your problems on a place to stay on friday:

1. Find a UVA party.
2. Meet cute girl at party, and pull out all the stops, I'm talking lay the full court press on her.
3. Convince her to take you back to her place.
4. ...
5. Profit (in more than one way ).

ugh...
i want to...
dad's a uva alumnus (who would actually be rooting for NCSU, he won't be cheering for uva much until they bring back the pep band)...
but, sadly, i'll be stuck in raleigh...

I'm looking to score some tickets. Dads boss is a BIG UVA supporter, so he has 50 yard line front tickets behind the team and a box, so I'm gonna try and get rowdy.

went to GT and FSU last year... haven't been on a road game yet this year. If we win this weekend I might have to just go to every road game til we lose.

actually uvas record crowd was against miami in 04 and it was around 63.000. deffinantly wont be that many for the state game since its a 12 o clock game and both teams are not very good.

I may have extra tickets but I won't know for sure until game day

I also have a dank parking spot in donor parking so I'll be easy to find

PM me if you need tickets as I may have some

I live in Charlottesville so I can give advice on the dank bars as well.

Go to the corner if you want collegy girls

go to the downtown mall if you want non-collegy girls

there, there's your advice.

There are some neighborhoods up the hill from the stadium with on-street parking. That's where I parked when I went before. Fortunately I have a parking pass for Saturday (from an alum).

Ticket still available, will sell well under face value because I cant make it to game, if no one wants it for themselves you can make some $$ by reselling it.
