i have a 47" widescreen hdtv (panasonic) that just recently had a new blue picture tube and a new board put in to get rid of some problems (circuit city warranty). the guy came out today and did the convergence for the second time and it's still not up to par. i know how to log into the service menu to do the full convergence, but can't seem to work out all the tweaks and was wondering if anyone on tww can help. i can call circuit city again and get another guy out here, but i thought some of you guys may have more expertise and be willing to assist me for a small fee.

if anyone is interested in helping out, please let me know. i'm a n00b at doing convergence the right way (including V-size, H-size, fine, coarse, etc).

So what kind of rear-projection is this? LCD projection or DLP?

it's not a dlp...it's about 4 years old now i guess...it's a big, bulky rear projection

Because there are only two types

Guess you missed this:

^ It is a CRT TV. I would scour AVSforum and if that turns up empty try finding the service manual. Or you could go the easy route and have someone from audio advice come out (but that would cost some $$)

Only two types made by panasonic currently, yes. Don't be a douche.

Patience, grasshopper. A service manual usually tells you the correct order. It's been a while since I've had to align a CRT projector.

i have a hard time seeing the fine lines, much less adjusting them correctly...lol...the picture looks pretty good, but if there is a straight line across the bottom or top (ie sportsticker) you can see that in the corners it's kind of bowed and i can't fix it adjusting the points for some reason

Is it doing that on an HD channel, an SD channel stretched to fit the screen, or all the time? It's a long shot, but if it's just doing that on stretched SD channels then you might have it set on "panoramic" as opposed to "full screen" or "16:9." That tends to fishbowl the edges a bit on the tv's I've used. Like I said though, that's a longshot.
