It is a Cowon IAduio G3 with 512MB memory

the other night it just stopped working, so i thought it was the battery and changed that out, not that.

I basically have to take the battery out then put it back in and it will turn on, go through the start up screen and sometimes make it to playing a song. It will then promptly shut off.

Other times when i take the battery out and replace it, it will power up and then promptly turn off in the middle of the startup screen and will continue to do so until i take the battery out, like it is hung up.

I contacted the support for this company and they told me to try and update the firmware, to me this doesnt seem to be the problem, how could it? I have not added or removed any songs or even connected the MP3 player to my computer in well over 6 months. and this hasnt had a problem in almost 2 years now What would cause the firmware to become unstable and crash my MP3 player?

I have not tried this yet, because i have read on the forum associated with their website that updating the firmware has caused problems with the player and caused working units to promptly stop working, not trying to make things worse or add more probems on top of problems. Any suggestions on what it may be? anyone have similiar problems?

i figure i am going to have to update the firmware and say it doesnt work before they will allow me to send it in for repairs. I am still waiting to hear back from them, thanks.

i went through that routine last night, still does the same thing, it actually does it worse now, i cant even get the thing to stay on and play a bit of a song.

The firmware update went smoothly, int he process erased all info on the player, basically reformatting it, so i loaded one song at random to the player and still the same old shit

I submitted an RMA, RMR whatever the hell they call it for it to be sent in and looked at.

seems like there is a short somewhere or a chip out of place, dunno, didnt want to attempt to go in there and look, cause i wouldnt know what the hell to look at
