I don't know why I thought about this today, but i did...

What are you people's thoughts on him? I know most of us came of age with him in office, so his time obviously had an effect on us here in NC. I'm not totally clear on all that he did do while in office, but it seems that the current people running the state have at least lost sight of the importance of education reform, whatever sort of reform would be best for us right now. I do know that our rate of improvement was greater than any other state in the union in the 90s (http://www.uncg.edu/iss/huntbio.html -see Rand Corp study). Whether this improvement was his fault, I would not be able to judge on, I'd have to find out more about the gen. assembly and other factors affecting the state. I also know that the fact that he let an innocent man sit in jail for 20 years is horrible, though.
