IMDB: http://imdb.com/title/tt0367027/

A group of New Yorkers caught up in their romantic-sexual milieu converge at an underground salon infamous for its belnd of art, music, politics, and carnality.

First of all, if you haven't seen Hedwig and the Angry Inch, put it on your Netflix queue NOW. Once you've watched it, you will want to see Shortbus. This is the second film from the writer, director, and star of Hedwig, and it looks pretty good. I can't tell much from the trailers besides a whole lot o' fuckin', but, hey, who doesn't love that?

"John Cameron Mitchell's ode to the joy and sweet release of sex also manages to be a sincere, modest political venture that finds humor where you might least expect it."
--Manohla Dargis, New York Times

"The boldest provocation of Mitchell's sweet, tender and gently funny film may be its exuberant celebration of community and togetherness at a cultural moment rife with fatalism and disconnect."
--Scott Foundas, L.A. Weekly

Coming this Friday to Galaxy Cinema. I'll post the showtimes as soon as I have them.

Uh yeah, so this was pretty fucking awesome.

That includes the soundtrack- Animal Collective and Yo La Tengo. <3

9/10

Oh, and if you're uncomfortable with gay sex in any way, I'd advise you skip watching it.

Just give me about 15 minutes of lead time, I can change the template on the server and swap out the new tickets for some leftover old ones.

Or you could take advantage of the fact that the new'ns are exactly three times the length of the old ones.

p.s. ALL SORTS of old dudes come to see this alone. I love judging strangers.

I just got back from seeing this movie. It's the kind of film I'd want to make if I had the chance, except with much more vaginas instead of penises.

I thorughly enjoyed it.

See, that's totally one of the reasons I felt it was so interesting- the male nudity to female nudity ratio in this movie is completely backwards from what's now the standard. I think I seriously heard people chuckle at seeing a penis on screen in the first few seconds.

Awww. I guess I'd feel a little weird about going to see it alone if I were a guy.

The funny thing is that I see movies alone ALL THE TIME, and it's entirely possible I'll still be doing that when I'm sixty. I can't wait for the day when I'm riding solo, getting my senior ticket to some dirty indie flick...especially because by that point I'll probably be living on the moon. Or at least a space station. I hope.

Even so, I mean.... You'd be watching a guy singing The Star-Spangled Banner into another guy's ass... alone.

Ahahahahahahhaahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

So yesterday, apparently, this forty-something year woman walked into Shortbus and watched 20 minutes of it before realizing it wasn't The Queen.

HILARITY.
