I have this 500 hp Honda Element... could I bring it along to the next TWW drift meet?

Honda reveals Element-D drift car

Quote :
"Honda at the SEMA auto show unveiled the Honda Element-D drift racecar. Built for the racing sport of drifting, the Honda Element-D racecar replaces the stock 4-cylinder/Real Time(TM) 4WD drivetrain with a custom-designed and longitudinally-mounted 3.2-liter Honda V6 and rear-wheel-drive.

Producing 500-horsepower, the lightweight twin-turbocharged powerhouse is guaranteed to light up the rear tires and accelerate sideways at full opposite lock. Associates from Honda R&D Americas, Inc., in Ohio plan to campaign the Element-D in the 2007 Formula Drift Series. "

HOW ABOUT PUTTING THAT ENGINE IN THE NEXT NSX???

BTW, check out the following other modded Hondas at SEMA:

Anyway, some pics of my Element!

http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/10/31/2007-honda-civic-mugen-si-sedan-revealed

2007 Honda Civic Mugen Si Sedan Revealed

Quote :
"Honda today revealed a prototype Civic Mugen Si Sedan prepared by Honda tuner Mugen equipped with a high performance suspension, forged aluminum wheels, aerodynamic body styling and a sport exhaust system at the 2006 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show. Planned for production in a limited quantity of 500 units a year, the Civic Mugen Si will be available at U.S. Honda dealers starting in spring 2007 with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of less than $30,000 and a full factory warranty.

The track tuned suspension, tested at the Twin Ring Motegi racing circuit in Japan, lowers the vehicle by 0.6 inches with aggressive spring and damper tuning for enhanced handling performance while still maintaining ride comfort. Compared to the stock Civic Si Sedan, front and rear damping force (both bump and rebound) was increased between 8- and 24-percent (the rate varies depending on condition). Lightweight 16.7-pound 18x7.5-inch forged aluminum wheels (27 percent lighter than the stock 17x7 alloy wheel) and high-grip BFGoodrich g-Force KDW 215/40ZR18 summer tires help to further improve handling."

yeah because you can really use a fast car to drive at its limits all the time and need at least 300 hp in a daily driver. god forbid someone like a car for its looks or efficiency or any combination of things.

Playing devil's advocate only makes you look like a dumbshit in this case.

At 30 fucking K and without caring about performance, why exactly would you buy a civic? Especially when there are better looking cars (TSX, TL, A3, A4 FrontTrack to name a few) in this price range?

yeah, I'd rather have a TL or RSX for a nice dependable DD for that price range. Hell I'm already driving a TL for a DD.

It's better to have hp and not need it, then needing hp and not have it.

^^not that i give a shit what most to any of you think, but i am playing the voice of reason on this one. sure i would personally take an acura over a flashy civic but i am sure there are quite a few people out there that will buy this car for what it is. everyone around here likes to argue about the lack of power about every new car that gets posted or scream about front wheel drive being the worst thing ever. but what do i know, i am just a guy happy with his e30. you and jbaz can go fellate each other now.

Thank you for your thoughtful and original reply. However, I hate to inform you that every person on TWW plays devil's advocate and ignores the fact that whatever it is they are normally defending is no less retarded for their efforts.

A FWD power sedan for 30k - any luxury is stupid as balls.

As an added note, this is just a renaming of Honda's Factory Performance package which, by the way, didn't sell for shit.

FWD cars sell obviously. Not everyone wants to be a pretend race car driver on the weekend and suffer from bad traction the second it rains. Ask your race car instructor who pulled an Earnhardt last week.

Dude, if you for one moment think that a 4 wheel hydroplane would be fine in a FWD car then you should stop driving and have your stein haul you around. While ahmet drives like a fucktard, he could have had my car and still ended up in the gaurd rail with the amount of traction loss he had.

See: Seapunky's derktegra for FWD + rear wheel traction loss.

Furthermore, this isn't just a regular 15000$ get-the-smart-engineer-to-work-and-back hauler. This is a near $30000 performance wannabe that will get its ass handed to it in any performance situation. Not to mention, because its going to have summer tires your ass will still end up on the gaurd rail in anything that isn't perfectly dry concrete with speeds in excess of 60mph.

god damn you niggers and your FWD RWD bullshit.

if you can slide the rear of a RWD car, you can slide the rear of a FWD car.

If I wanted a sporty FWD sedan I'd consider that Civic...if it was around $20k. Otherwise, no fucking way.
