well, knowing our AD, I'm pretty sure that we did shoot ourselves in the foot. I doubt Fowler even had a backup plan while Herb was considering ASU.

Atleast UNC knew there would be a change afoot and used ALL of their resources to get who they needed.

With Davis going to CHapel Hell, I bet Fowler will make some kind of announcement that he is standing behind Amato. Then he'll give Chuck the old 3-5 year contract extension and we'll end up like ECU when we finally fire Chuck next year.

why is everyone assuming that, if davis does infact end up at unc, he will turn the program into a perennial juggernaut? he had a great run at miami, but it's fucking miami. davis didn't do too hot in the nfl, and it's been a few years since he has coached anywhere.

i think its more the fact that he took a miami program which was under severe penalty(down 30 someodd scholarships) and turned it around pretty quickly. a lot of people credit the national title that they won partially to him because it was a lot of his players(although i never like that arguement).

but i agree. he has never really won anything as a head coach, almost all his success has come during his tenures as assistants mostly to jimmy johnson. he is a good recruiter though so we'll see.

looking at this a different way, miami peeps really wanted him back so i dont think they'll fire coker now, not after this season...they would go after a big name guy and i dont see anyone who would be leaving where they are for miami (as far as big name coaches)

We have a chance to nab a great coach like Paul Johnson or Pat Hill this offseason. Of course, since this is NC State, we won't. We'll either.

1) attempt to go after someone unobtainable (Cowher, for the morons) and get shot down, and end up settling for someone on the level of Al Groh or...ugh...Chuck.
2) keep Chuck and go 5-6 or 6-5 for the rest of eternity.

chuck has been building the foundations of our great program. once the foundation is complete we can start building vertically (i think next year is that year) we have a great foundation the last few years we have been 1 player away from being great teams.

the biggest thing now is recruiting. Davis is going to go after Florida recruits much the same way Chuck did when he first got to state.

This has been one of our pipeline states for 6 years plus in-state recruiting has been more of UNC's realm under Bunting so they already set up with that.

^don't forget AJ Davis, the Holts, Tank as well. It is surprisingly true, but probably more of the fact that we can get the better NC players, but we can only get the UM/UF/FSU regects from Florida.

jesus christ, that sounds like the exact same rhetoric state fans use every single year. SEVEN years is long enough time to "build a foundation" especially with the talent we've had come into this program and wasted.

The sooner everyone steps back and takes a look at what the hell has been going on under Chuck's tenure, the sooner everyone will realize that a 3rd grade Field Day champion couldve coached us to a better record with all the talent we've had on this team.
