I like to shop early for holiday gifts. I do most of my shopping online & sometimes I come across really neat sites. I thought I'd share these with you people. Also, I encourage everyone to post more sites for gift giving or ideas.

So when it's time for you to buy a gift for someone in your life, you have somewhere to start!

A lot of these sites are more girl oriented but most of them include gifts for guys too.

Also, some of these sites have really high prices. If the price is out of my range I like to take the idea and try to find it somewhere else and in some cases you can do it yourself.

So away we go!

Ten Thousand Villages in Cameron Village is a really cool place with a lot of hand-crafted things from around the world. And they have really good coffee, too!

There is a really fun store called Cameron's at University Mall in Chapel Hill

Local recommendations are cool, but try to recommend as many websites as possible since an increasing number of people don't live in the RDU area

^^^ thanks!

anyone have any ideas or advice for shopping on amazon?

all of my family lives in england or germany, and amazon is the easiest thing to use so that I don't have to ship from the US

I usually just end up getting people lame stuff (mostly books) so any suggestions would be great

so, this is a place i've been buying ornaments from for about 5 years now

http://www.novascotiancrystal.com

it's a small shop on the waterfront in Halifax, Nova Scotia. They do everything by hand right there in front of you. I have been buying my parents the holiday ornament every year since my ship pulled in on the way back from NATO exercises in Iceland/Norway area. It's a bit expensive when you calculate in the shipping cost, but remember it's in canadian dollars. They're about the size of a tennis ball, solid, and well designed.

They have been getting me the Met's snowflake ornament every year since birth (also another great gift - http://www.metmuseum.org) and my brother the star edition.
