I need to tell people how erase/empty/reset this file in Windows XP.
I don't have an windows machine in front of me.

Would this work?

go to Start Menu->Run:
ERASE $HOME/.ssh/known_hosts

are they using ssh? or something else (like PuTty?).

Replace $HOME by %home%

I guess they might want to see the output of the command.
cmd /k erase %home%/.ssh/known_hosts

c:\Documents and Settings\(username)\ssh\known_hosts?
c:\Documents and Settings\(username)\putty.rnd?

Easiest way would be to tell them to go through my computer. Take screenshots if necessary.
