I want to frame a print i have but i'm looking for some ideas of how to do it. As in what kind of frame and matting.

I was thinking of just keeping it very simple, but the last time i had something framed someone suggested something I would not have considered and I really liked it so I figured i'd give this a shot.

here's a site i was using this site to get some ideas; you can use the actual image and pick frames and mattings to see what it would look like.
www.americanframes.com

here's the image

the actual image size is 16.25" x 9"

here's an example

any ideas will be appreciated

take it to Michael's. This week is 50% off in custom framing. And if nothing else, they will help give you some ideas of ways to do it yourself.

Michael's, even with the sale, is expensive as shit. Find someone who frames as a hobby. I'd do a simple black frame and a graphite or silver colored matte.

^it's by cam de leon http://happypencil.com/

the link for the frame website is http://www.americanframe.com/

^^ they're not having the sale right now, I called them. Right now the frames are 50% off but last week (and once every month) the entire framing price is 50% off. To give you an idea of the price; during one of their 50% off sales i had a 16 x 12 piece done with a wood frame (ended up being like 22x18), tripple matted, glass, for like $110. The most expensive part is the frame, especially if you go with wood. I called smaller places and i didn't find anything much cheaper.

anyway, something like this would be good if you could get some other pictures or newspaper clippings. and obviously you could do the same thing with just the ticket, use the team colors for the matting.

or something like this which probably doesn't cost much at all.

Michael's is expensive as crap. It's a good place to go to get ideas and freely mess around with some framing options. Even if you don't purchase, on a non-busy day, they are helpful (at least in my experience) and can help you with the framing/matting.

americanframe.com is where I get all my stuff. They cute the matts and everything for you, send you the glass, etc. All you have to do is put the shit together and it' super easy. A print I did myself for $45 (including shipping) was quoted at $179 at michaels. It's a total rip off. Don't ever have anything framed at michaels

Definitely a gray matt or darker. Frame either silver or black. Anything too light will distract from the actual picture. You could do a double matt of light gray below and then darker gray above. Make it like two inches thick all around with a thinner frame, maybe an inch thick. That'd be sweet.

go to AC moore

there are usually some kind of frames for 40% off and I bet you could get a custom mat to fit the frame and mat out the picture and you'd save $$$$$

even with the 50% off deal, it's still

what is good to do, however, like said above, is to go in there acting like you're going to soon get the picture framed so that the people there will help you pick out appropriate colors of matting and frame...............they're actually surprisingly helpful, picking out appropriate colors/sizes/dimensions of matting/frame can be a little tricky
