Most of our fans that are actually intelligent when it comes to sports knew Herb was a good coach and did this university well to bring them back. 11/14/2006 12:46:56 AM |

herb was a terrible fit. he can't coach offense. hes a good defensive coach but all he knows how to do is throw up threes which is not good. it looks great when their going in but when they are not it looks like tonight.
abysmal
and how is nau good?
they lost by bout 40 the other night and 21-11 in that conference last year doesnt impress me
http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/teamsched?teamId=2464&seasonYear=2006
just look at the teams they lost to
we beat wofford. and thats all that matters. meanwhile herb lost. face the facts

it was a pretty rough night from the arc
and the misses down the stretch were deadly
they'd cut it to 2 and miss a 3 cut it to 1 and miss a few threes
that + 2 missed dunks = ouch 11/14/2006 1:26:40 AM |

^ exactly......you kinda point out why he needed to be gone. If you cut it to 1......why jack a couple 3's in a row? Go inside and try to get some points....hell, maybe you'll get fouled. 11/14/2006 1:31:36 AM |

oh, there were PLENTY of missed mid-range jumpers and even a handful of missed layups
it's not like all of the missed shots in the last 4 minutes of the game were from 3
but when all 3 guys 6'8" or taller have 4 fouls, it makes it tough to get points down low
...to be honest the foul trouble reminded me of the Thornton/Inge/CornDog days 11/14/2006 1:35:19 AM |

Arizona State head coach Herb Sendek, center, goes over last-minute instructions to Sylvester Seay, left, and Jeff Pendergraph, prior to the start of a college basketball game against Northern Arizona, Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, in Tempe, Ariz.
In other words "hey guys, shoot as many 3's as you can"

Northern Arizona is money in the bank ATS.. at least last year they were. I remember NAU was like +21.5 against Arizona last year and they were winning for a long time and eventually killed the spread. They were my $$$ team all last year. Good team...
Herb will be fine. It's no surprise the freshman were the only ones worth a damn. Once he gets his kids in there they'll turn around. I mean, who knows if Herb can ever win big (I think he can) but he will definitely turn that program around.
** As far as UNC. They will have the capability to beat any team they play by 25+ on any given night, even Duke and certainly us. They are going to be scary good. Personally, I don't think Kansas is as good as their ranking, but we'll see.

I don't think most of the ire on here is directed at herb.....
but its hard to "LEAVE HIM ALONE" when there is thread after thread of "Herb is gonna get the last laugh", "Arizona State Recruiting", etc. If you think any of these threads are out of a genuine love for herb, you are wrong. it is to get shit stirred up around here. It would be easier to let go if there were not people at every turn waiting to rub in your face the coach you used to have.
this is a two sided coin, I try not to talk about herb as much as possible, but people on here keep tring to salt the wounds of those of us who were ready for a change.
and it is not too hard to see that when Arizona State shoots under 30% from 3 point range, loses to a crappy team, and plays in low scoring games, the coach is the common element in the mix

Actually that isn't entirely true. I know Tim (ncstatetke) is actually following all the ASU games because he likes Herb. I'm going to the Cal home game against ASU because I'm interested in seeing him and his team play..
Generally in the NC State threads it's not anyone who supported him that brings him up first. I know myself and boozie never do but I'll always respond to someone who does... It's always some sort of stupid, baseless blast about how 'herb would have fucked up this' or 'herb sucks because he did that.'
