This is going to be a big test for Duke.

Air Force is a high scoring, fast paced Princeton style offense with TONS of experience. They've beaten Stanford and Colorado by 30+ points each on tough away games and this one is in Kansas City. Dean Smith and John Wooden are there watching it. Should be a great game.

duke looks pretty darn good...zoubek is a beast down low too...he just has to learn how to play smarter against crafty defenders who will take a flop.

coach k and other duke insiders said that 95% of the time in practice, lance thomas is the best player on the team...

that's the 3rd or 4th offensive foul on duke post players...

duke's defense looks surprisingly good against a team that prides themselves on execution.

Duke's D matches up well with Air Force because duke pressures the ball and denies the wings extremely hard so air force has to start their offense way farther out than they are used to

it did need its own thread because it's early in the basketball season and lots of people may have forgotten about this game

yeah, he 100% sucks, and this is coming from a duke fan. i cringe every time he touches the ball. he is a turnover waiting to happen and cant guard his own shadow.

^you have zero basketball knowledge if you think that. he hit the two biggest shots of the game for duke last night (both threes), controls the pace of the game, and had several great assists.

he did have 6 turnovers last night, which is to be expected coming off a foot injury, but he also had 6 assists. duke isn't the same team without paulus.

^More like "Man...I'm not in game shape since I haven't been playing and have only averaged 20 minutes per game up to this point."

Don't be retarded...show me a player who plays his best coming off an injury that has restricted his or her minutes and playing time with a young team.

im not basing this on his performance so far this year, im including watching him last year. big freaking deal, he led the acc in assists as a freshman while passing the ball to two AA's. perhaps he will come around, but he was getting blown by against air force guards, AIR FORCE guards.

and i have just as much basketball knowledge of anyone on here. just my personal opinion that he is average at best. yeah, he a few big shots last night but i still think he is more of a liability than anyone else on the team. who cares if you get 6 assists when you give the ball to the other team just as much.

he was getting blown by the SYSTEM...NOT the individual players. they beat everyone with back door cuts and it wasn't just paulus. the only player who didn't get beat defensively was demarcus nelson because he had that one guard's crossover move on lock.

im not talking about back door cuts. im talking about the several occasions when his guy had the ball in front of him and went around him at will. his ball handling ability is average and can make some great passes at times. but those get more than negated when he turns it over and over.

Paulus doesn't have the quickness or athletic ability like most acc guards but his court awareness and leadership are what make him valuable. Right now and parts of last year he was a turnover machine but you have to expect that to change as he gets into game shape bc he only had 3 or 4 practices before his first game. What you don't see from paulus is what makes him so valuable.
