Everyone I've asked so far who has graduated and gotten a real job has not had to show their degree/transcript, just says what their degree is in on the resume. Can anyone just say "I graduated from NCSU" on their resume and get away with it?

Has your job actually checked your transcript? If you could know that....

They may or may not check; for some jobs they require a transcript. I had to submit an official transcript for my adjunct prof. job. In any case, even if they don't - if you do it and get caught, you'll likely be in breach of contract or implied warranty, and will be legally in trouble.

I've had some request unofficial transcripts, and one or two request official transcript upon job offer. Unless I'm in a specialized job/field, I would think they would be more interested in my references than my transcript.

Yep. Some bigshot at The Lab had gotten to where he was without actually finishing his Phd. Got exposed a few years ago and caused a small shit-storm. Now everyone has to present proof of degree.

I was never even asked what my GPA was for any of the jobs i applied to out of college to the point where now, I would honestly have to search for it, because I forgot.

I was never even asked to show proof of graduation. I did an internship with my company, and they hired me before I graduated.

My first position out of college did check my transcript, but my current job did not. Then again, my diploma is hanging on the wall in my office anyway.

I had to submit a transcript for where I'm working now...can't believe they still hired me.

However, faking on the resume is a damn good way to fuck yourself out of jobs in the future if you ever get caught.

I work for the Feds, had to PROVE i graduated to get my grade level, which was my UNOFFICIAL transcript, which is what is in TRACS(progress toward degree shit or something)...however, if you cant use TRACS now, i got an advisor to fax me an unofficial transcript.

I didn't have to show them anything, but I did have to send a photocopy of my degree to take my certification exam.

There are several fraud prevention systems that some employers use that verify things like education.

My current job and my previous job both requested official transcripts.

when i was looking for a "real" job in tucson, i was asked to provide a transcript TWICE

doesnt seen odd unless you know that i never graduated. i had "XX of 120 hours completed" on my resume, and i also had some "relevant coursework" listed. maybe it was cause i was from out of state and they can verify stuff in-state automatically.

speaking of odd, i also had a company get my criminal record and somehow merge it into a word file and send it to me. very obviously a form letter with my info pasted. asking me to explain the conditions behind any convictions. needless to say, i tossed it.

lol well yeah, to most of them they don't even care if you have a 'degree' just "can you do it, prove it" stuff...

Nope. Was never asked my GPA. Was never asked for a transcript. Never showed anyone the peice of paper I have hanging on the wall (in my apt).

But, both companies reserved the right to preform a background check whenever they wanted, and if you lie about anything, you're terminated immediately.
