FOR SALE:
1987 Dodge Ram truck (¾-ton, 5.9L V8) conversion van, 111k miles, original owner, towing package - $1995 SPECS/FEATURES: - 5.9L V8 engine provides massive torque (effortlessly hauled a 25-foot prowler camping trailer) and runs on regular (87 octane) gas - heavy duty transmission geared for hauling, with transmission cooler - power door locks - moonroof windows - running boards - interior spotlights, map lights and mood lights (original) - factory tinted windows - front and middle captains chairs (PLUSH) - rear bench seat (PLUSH) which folds down into a sleepable surface - class-C (heavy duty) towing package/hitch with electrical and brake assist - alloy wheels (not original, but “appropriate” style. NOT chrome.) - wheel locks (yes, we still have the key and instructions) - 5” television integrated into ceiling (factory original) - Sony AM/FM/cassette stereo
The only problems are: The A/C does not blow cold, and the front windows have difficulty opening - I believe it is a stripped gear, the part is about $40 per window. I don't have the time to fix them.
- 111k actual miles - no accidents - non-smoker - interior was professionally reupholstered a few years ago - Tires have plenty tread left, as does the spare. Mud/snow rated, great dunlops - Tuned up engine 100 miles ago, which includes new spark plugs, plug wires, rotor, distributor cap, air filter, and a re-torquing the valve cover bolts - Alternator was replaced about 5 years ago - Oil/filter changed 300 miles ago - Coolant was changed 2 or 3 years ago - Chrome bits like the bumpers, door handles and mirrors still look pretty nice - Runs great and does not overheat, even in hot NC summers. Temp stays exactly where it should be - Seats are in excellent shape - All guages work, all guage illumination works - Transmission shifts perfectly - Engine does not burn or leak oil - Brakes still have a lot of life in them, have been replaced - New wiper blades, and the washer fluid sprayers work - Windshield replaced a few years ago when the original one was cracked - Steering column was professionally re-tightened a couple years ago (it had just gotten sloppy from aging) - Battery is a couple years old, cranks well - heater is great, blower works great - no weird electrical problems, no blown fuses, NOTHING. - very, very reliable. One of the most problem-free vehicles my family has owned.
Located in Chapel Hill, NC. Purchased new by my father in 1987, this van now has 110,800 actual miles on it. It is a southern vehicle with virtually no rust.
