my cat just delivered (3) kittens last night. any pointers. she delivered them on the love seat and has been there since. i haven't touched the kittens or anything. i've pretty much just left her and the kittens alone.

one thing I noticed is her belly still looks sort of full. are there more coming. the delived them yesterday around 7pm.

there might be, but I don't think it takes that long. her belly might be stretched? just keep an eye on her.

A couple things to consider:

Did you notice how many placentas have been expelled? They can take 24 hours to come out. If one is retained, she needs to go to a vet.

Four hours is the longest period that there should be between deliveries, so there shouldn't be any more kittens in there.

The best thing that I can recommend is a vet visit. The mother and newborns should go to a vet within a day or two after they are born regardless of problems.

Hope they're all okay.

cool. you're right a vet visit should be made and she will have to get fixed, G.

^You can't fix her until the kittens are weaned though.

I hope your loveseat was either covered or is easily washable. Enjoy the sinful cuteness that is a kitten.

go to the vet and have her checked out ... someone I know adopted a pregnant cat, and the ended up having to go to the vet because she had one stuck in the birth canal and died there

she seems normal and all. she's taking breaks from feeding them to eat, etc ...

i'm just surprised it was only (3) kittens in the litter. i thought there would be more.

sorry to hear that Pedro. all (3) from this litter appear to be healthy. i saved the other ones live that she left out on the balcony when I realised she was in labor. i lifted it up with a dust pan and placed it on her belly.

i'm going to have to check out the sexes of them too ...

hahah i remember when n00b (my old cat) had all her babies. it was great, she just walked out in the middle of the floor and started popping out babies and i got to see em all pop out. the second time she started having babies in the same room while i was getting some COUG, so i missed a couple of them being born.

^^The mother gave birth to one kitten on a balcony. The mother left the balcony. He noticed the mother was giving birth. He went to the balcony, found the kitten. He put the kitten in a dustpan and threw it into a trash can.
