nokia 6255i through alltel...i was putting in another mmc card the other day and noticed an extra slot...sure enough, the phone has slot for a sim card (it may be just a dummy slot, but the gold connectors are all there

i wasn't aware that this phone was available for GSM...upon googling, it appears that it was indeed available for GSM...my question is this - is it possible that my phone can operate on GSM and CDMA, or did they probably just try to save money by manufacturing all of the phones exactly the same? i don't know enough about cell phone design to know if the CDMA/GSM hardware thing is even possible

dunno. Worst case senario you put the sim card in, boot it up and it says invalid sim card.

I know verizon wireless has a handful of phones that have GSM capability thru a SIM card for traveling overseas, but they don't work on US networks. it may be the case with yours as well. I know the nokia website doesn't say anything about GSM capability for that model
