550i has a 4.8 liter 335 has a 3 liter ( i know its turbo but turbos =/= .5 liter)

I didn't know they had any current documentation that states the model names reflect engine displacement... 12/5/2006 1:00:14 PM |

Since we're on the topic, Mercedes doesn't follow the rule every time anymore either (example: S 600 is 5.5L V12 TT) 12/5/2006 1:12:44 PM |

Ford started it all, with their "5.0" Mustangs, which were really barely 4.9.... 12/5/2006 2:43:06 PM |

an e30 325i is actually a 2.5 now if you stroke it you can make it a 2.7
an e30 325e on the other hand is infact a 2.7

I thought the first number represented the series and the second number was your penis extension.

there are a lot of bmws that dont follow the rule old 745i = 3.5l turbo 540 = 4.4l new 328 = 3.0l 323 = 2.5l new 325 = 3.0l 12/5/2006 6:14:46 PM |

MBs are the worst offenders when it comes to this.
I wish they still followed the convention, but if they did, then model names would change every 2-3 years, so, the best naming scheme is one that doesn't rely on engine displacements (see Audi as a very good example). 12/6/2006 2:05:05 AM |
