Quote :
"On paper, the triple option's formation resembles a spread-out run-and-shoot passing offense. With the right personnel – a strong-armed quarterback and fast receivers – Navy could run that offense out of it and pass for a "zillion yards," Johnson said.

"In fact, this could possibly be the best passing offense ever," he said.
"Because when you run the option, it limits what (defenses) can do coverage-wise, and you can get all kinds of one-on-one matchups (against the defense downfield)." "

educate yourselves, stubborn naysayers.

sounds like a man that knows schemes to me

also, interesting quote from leach, coach at texas tech

Quote :
"No other team in the country has an offense like it, either, though Air Force runs some – but not nearly as much – triple option. If there's one team in the country that most resembles Navy's offense from a conceptual standpoint, it might be Texas Tech. Ironically, the Red Raiders' spread offense throws the ball on 66 percent of its plays and leads the nation in passing yards.
"They run it all the time, and we throw it a lot, but in my mind that's sort of where the differences end," Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach said. "It's about distribution of the ball. They make sure everybody touches the ball, and the quarterback makes good decisions about who gets the ball. Philosophically, I think we're incredibly similar."

Quote :
"In general, teams that have been successful against Navy's offense have been bigger, faster and more disciplined.

"Some teams can play assignment football pretty well," said Owens, the QB whose job entails deciding if, when and where to pitch the ball on the triple option. "Sometimes if guys are bigger than us or faster than us, it kind of neutralizes things."
"

so like, fsu, um, vt and the like in comparison to the size and talent we get on o and thier d cores

^but he wouldn't run that triple option here; it would be more of a spread option here because we have more talent.

it would look like florida's, wvu's more so

and plus our talent isn't all that much lower than those schools

^^ the guys we have on our team right now are just as athletic as the players for fsu, um, and vt. and that navy qb was talking about the disparity between navy's players and teams like navy. there's a huge margin there in athleticism. to try and say fsu, um, and vt have an equal advantage over our players is straight out dumb.

I think one of the biggest misconceptions people seem to have about our football team is that we have somehow "caught up" in athletic talent to some of the traditional powerhouses. We haven't. Not even close. We're not Miami, we're not Oklahoma, hell we're not even VT at this point. Take FSU for example, they used to sub out 7 players on defense at a time and not skip a beat. We could NEVER do that.

What we have is a hand full of stand out athletes among a muck of mediore to sub-par players. Luckily, we're in the ACC, so if we get a decent coach that is good at managing a team with mostly crap players (like Paul Johnson), we have a shot. He could start winning right away with our current team. Guys like Jimbo Fischer are used to working with teams that are loaded with NFL talent, we just don't have that right now.
