I like how Avent's Army gets bigger every year. Probably because Avent actually shows up to the monday "meetings". Avent is a great coach, to bad a pro team will pick up on him soon enough.

Our pitching staff this year is going to be NASTY....

Our lineup needs some people to stand up, we lost a lot and Ramon Corona/Ryan Pond are really the only regulars coming back. We need some of the JC transfers to play well.

the baseball team has performed pretty well but as far as i know not many of the players like Avent at all. That's why Mangini left for Oklahoma State. He was by far one of the best bats on the team and Avent drove him away. The pitching has been awesome and now that we have the new Texas pitching coach it might be even better.

^ exactly, except you forgot he got pulled in the acc tourney (or ncaa, but i think it was acc) b/c he was starting to be such a liability in the field.

if you just look at stats, he looks great, but if you actually watched baseball last season.. he's no major loss.

^^i didn't forget this, they put in Drew Martin who laid out and made several nice plays that Mangini would NOT have made.

Also drew did pretty well with the bat during the ACC tourney.

Avent is the reason Mangini left. According to this scout, Mangini will be a first round pick when he goes.

As far as Mangini goes is if you look at his stats against ACC pitching, after playing the scrub teams at the start of the season they are not even close. Also he led the team in Errors, and his ego was so big it took up the whole left side of the field and then some. Losing MM will not be a big loss for this team, with some of the juco players and FR that were brought in this team will be fine. The depth this season on the pitching staff is great.

We are routinely putting players in the MLB draft. I think we had 6 last year: Bates, Still, Hobson, Walls, Diaz, Camp. Maybe I missing some but that is 6 right there.

Also we have recently put 2 players in the majors in Chad Orvella and Joey Devine, with Colt Morton and Michael Rogers and Vern Sterry on their way up. So don't say they won't amount to shit.

avent may be an asshole but through my personal playing experience, i found that our teams were a lot better off having a discipliarian who was a dickhead at practice and a dickhead if we screwed up, rather than having someone who sucked your dick all the time

i think avent is the best coach we have here at state
