It's a good experience – I wish we could play Duke and Carolina here but I think we'd lose a little bit of money.”"

i know this is beating a dead horse, but we really should be scheduling acc teams for the "heritage game", or atleast decent ooc competition.

what a worthless and embarassing stat to mention when the competition has barely qualified as "cupcakes".

get fucking carolina, duke, or even wake game in reynolds. if the loss of revenue is the concern, just jack up the ticket prices. mofos will pay to see this shit in reynolds again, especially when we get good (ranked) again.

I support Gavin Grant and this thread.

You know it would be awesome though, if ESPN did one of those retro games they do but it would be for a State vs one of the Big Four games in Reynolds. While that wouldn't make up for the money made at the RBC it could be enough to draw national viewership for the two teams.

money is money and people wouldn't be happy paying much more money to sit in a wooden seat with a terrible angle and possibly an obstructed view as opposed to luxury boxes and such . Didn't we help pay for the RBC?

Get over the fact that we have history there. Maryland isn't bitching about their nice new stadium and its not as nice as RBC. Tradition can be built in the better, new arena.

Well, for the few last possesions of the game, Albritton was in, and two possessions in a row made shitty, shitty long passes that ended up as turnovers. So, that's why he's not playing. Although to his credit in the last play of the game he did make a last second steal from a Savannah State player to prevent them from a final shot and keep our lead above 20 pts...

I've got to understand the red shoes/white shoes thing with our team....the guys that play have white ones, the scrubs have red ones. When they put Albritton out there he looked like Chuck Amato running around......

seems like the scholarship players wear white shoes and walk-ons wear red. haven't noticed that before this season so maybe it's a new thing sidney started (or brought back).

anyone else notice this before this year?

I thought the red ones were last year's shoes and maybe Braxton didn't get this year's team gear because he was a walk-on

I do not want to play big games in reynolds coliseum. In my lifetime the only thing that happened there was les robinson lost in hot sweaters and we got all excited about getting into the NIT finally, not good memories.
this university had to work for 15 years to get the RBC center plans approved and instead of going back to hot old reynolds cuz its nostalgic I think we should sell out the damn RBC center make money and kick carolina and dukes ass at the same time- so maybe at some point we can brag on our teams even half as much as we do our facilities lately.

we should at least play ECU or UNCW in Reynolds, a 1-A school at least, not the bullshit ass teams weve been playing in there. The best one so for was prob App. State.

EVERY school we play in basketball is 1-A.

They cannot do a game there where attendance will be over say 10,000 at RBC.

RBC is a fine arena. It's not its fault that we've rarely had a reason to cheer basketball there. (*cough* Herb *cough*)

God dammit shut the fuck up about Herb. The man left.

We beat Duke 3 years in a row in the RBC. I believe one of the times they were #2. We only lost 3 home games last year.

Also, it holds the world record for noise in an arena, so don't give me this atmosphere bs.

THERE IS NO 1AA IN BASKETBALL.

Everyone we play is division 1. Period.

You can say they're shitty teams, lower-conference, whatever, but they're not 1AA.

LOL okay. I guess UConn a few years back didn't win the Nat'l Championship because they were 1-AA in football.

There are some fucking idiots that post in Sports Talk.

Anyone who doesn't think the RBC can absolutely rock hasn't gone to many State games. The first game against Maryland where Gainey hit the winner with like 1 second left, the huge comeback versus Wake Forest from 17 down, the 2 Duke wins, Hodge's SR night when Paul nutpunched us all at the end, etc, etc.. The place is loud as shit for big games.

And did people really think there was a 1-AA in basketball?

UMd has a bball only arena. I don't know if you've been there but it's a lot more 'intimate' I guess you can say. I like the RBC though. It gets incredibly loud for a pro building.. the only place I've heard louder in a pro building for a college bball game is a UConn-SJU game at the Garden..

no one is saying shit about the rbc. goddamn, just coz we want a good game in the reynolds doesn't mean we want to abandon the rbc, move back to reynolds, and/or the rbc sucks. all we're saying is that if we're going to have this heritage game, let's atleast schedule some decent-good competition for it. we all also understand it simply comes down to money.

I'm not sure where I said anything about you wanting to abandon the RBC Center or even responding to the fact that you want a better game in the old barn(which I agree with). People constantly say the RBC has no noise and atmosphere and one person even said it in this thread, so I said that isn't true.
