Interview tomorrow. I wanna know how you liked working there and any perks.

If you have ever worked for ClearWire, Cingular, or Sprint respond too. I have applied for all of them.

I liked working for them in corporate. I was an intern then part-time consultant last year in the Internet Strategy and Programs group. It was a strong company when I was there - Cingular and AT&T had just merged making them the biggest carrier, but VZW was adding record-breaking numbers each quarter (1.3M+ per quarter).

As far as perks go, phones trickle down through employees. I got a free phone from a team meeting we had up in NJ one week. I bought the latest and greatest phone at the time for $50 and had a 900 minute, unlimited text, VCAST, etc plan for about $25 a month. Managers and the likes almost all have blackberrys paid for by the company (but then again what companies don't these days).

You'll certainly never have to worry about coverage where you work. I remember the HQ was in bum-fuck NJ, but they had an EVDO tower installed there (back when EVDO was only in about 25 cities).

I went elsewhere after my MBA simply because the group I worked for was full and not hiring when I was going through my job search. One of my friends took the summer off to get married and travel - when he came back 4 months later, my group was hiring - strongly recommended it.

If you're going to work in NJ, I knew a lot of people lived in Hoboken to be close to the city (esp the younger ones). Easy commute for the most part. And there seemed to be a lot of young people working there.

The only knocks I have are these:
1. The company is really spread out. they have HQ's all over the place. It wasn't uncommon to have late afternoon conference calls because of the need to get the west coast offices in on the discussions. But that's kind of commonplace and never lead to really really late nights. It could be frustrating to get hold of people thou - some morning it was "sit on thumbs for three hours" until the west coast people got into the office.
2. When I was there, there was still a lot of old-school mentaility going around. For example, the guy I worked for had moved up from retail. While he was a good guy, he was still stuck in his days working for AirTouch. Being in the internet side, it was kind of a conflict between doing what was always done and actually spending money on investments for the future. I spent months trying to get them to hire a firm to do work on targeted search marketing with little luck.

Overally, it was very rewarding. I can go to the website and show you a dozen different things that I implemented or helped on the R&D with.

Sorry for all the words.

Well the recruiter has been calling me all morning because she got her schedule screwed up so no interview today. She wants to do a phone interview tomorrow. I was kind of looking forward to doing it in person, but w/e.
