The West Wing was pretty good, as was Freaks and Geeks.

And I don't think it's fair to count a four hour miniseries as a pilot episode.

I like the Sports Night pilot with the Untizake Nelson bit.

The best pilot of all time is Conan O'Brien's Lookwell starring Adam West.

I never heard of that show, but they mentioned it on the Family Guy DVD commentary. I might have to watch it sometime.

If Seth McFarlane likes Sports Night, I don't think I can.

Or did you mean Lookwell? Everyone in the world should like Lookwell, so that'd be okay.

Basically, I'm going to get off TWW for a while, but anything vinylbandit says, you can assume I'd say the same damn thing.

west wing was damn good too for a first episode.

The Sliders pilot in which the USA has been taken over by commies during the Cold War. <3

"33" and the BSG miniseries totally both count

The first pilot that comes to mind is "The Cosby Show"

it was very good, despite having alot of recycled jokes from Bill's standup routine, and taking place in an entirely different set (also, Theo is called "Teddy" which is weird)

the Scrubs pilot was strong

and the best pilot that i've ever seen that didn't actually become a show, was Awesometown, by the lonely island gang. google it, it's hilarious.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Voyager had great pilots.

Saw this last night on CC. I'd definitely tune in regularly thereafter after watching this pilot.

^^ Wow. Doesn't take much eh?

I'd have to say BSG, if that counts as a pilot, and Firefly.

Maybe the first episode of Nip Tuck.

I'm going to go with either version of the Arrested Development Pilot

As to the BSG miniseries...if you consider just the first episode of the original miniseries I'd say its actually pretty boring. I wouldn't say it got good until Lee sets off the thing and they think they all died which is what like almost two hours in?

From what I recall that was the end of the first episode, was all of five seconds, and happened mostly off-camera.
