^ that's the user's guide

So a friend of mine just bought an AEM EMS for his turbo Honda and I'm gonna try and help him tune it a little bit, at least to get it driveable enough to get to a shop or something. I've used Megasquirt and an Apex'i Power FC before, but after reading much of this manual I am REALLY impressed with what this thing can do. I'm clearly not some kind of tuner, but this stuff interests me a lot.

For example, the onboard boost control system is completely closed loop. I'm not sure how many other EBC's can really do that... maybe the Apex'i AVC-R. It also has a much better setup for controlling closed loop O2 feedback, compared to Megasquirt for example. Megasquirt only lets you set the % authority of the controller (how big of a range it can correct the fuel map) and the step size of each change, while the EMS has a lot more parameters to turn on and off closed loop control (based on throttle position, engine load, rpm, etc) for better driveability.

It's clear to me now that Megasquirt is just an open-source knockoff of the EMS with poor documentation.

On the other hand, there are so many crazy options it's no wonder that people pay big bucks to get their cars tuned on this thing. That's what I liked about the Power FC--it handles all the closed loop and idle control stuff, so you just set the maps and it does everything else.

Has anyone here ever messed with one?
