Heres what it is doing.....
Turn it on, cranks up fine.......hit normal idle then drops down to 200-300 rpm (hundred to thousand) and runs rough. It has done this before and had a scheduled appointment over christmas break (in other words, tried to go home today and now stuck here). Usually after runnign rough for a minute it will rev up to normal idle and be fine. Now it stays at 2-3 hundred rpm and runs rough and will cut off, scared to take it out, drove around parking lot and waiting for a car ot back out it shut off.. Any ideas?

Checked for broken lines, thought I reset computer but apparently disconnecting the battery doesnt do it, check engine light has been on like all fucking fords and is probably O2 sensor or egr valve.....ANY IDEAS?

Well, the first thing you should do when you post a question like this is

TELL US THE FUCKING YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL

Now you've done at least better than 75% of all folks by telling us it's a Ford.

But we need to know more.

My guess is (if it's a regular old ford) is that the idle air control solenoid is all fouled up. Or it could be an EGR problem, but I lean toward the IAC solenoid.

You really ought to have the codes pulled, as the damn check engine light can come on for any one of more than 50 reasons.

I am sorry for not mentioning, was assuming it was a normal problem.

it needs a new idle air control valve,

http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?mfrcode=NIE&mfrpartnumber=22972&parttype=506&ptset=A

you take out the four 7mm bolts on the plastic cover on top of the engine, take it off, unplug the wiring connector to the valve, take out the two 10 mm bolts, take it off, clean the old gasket off, use a new gasket, install the new valve, plug it in, and put the big plastic cover back on, takes about 10 min

Well my advice to you is to go have the goddamn codes pulled and have the thing double-checked before you plunk down yer money.

69 is right damn good at this kinda thing, but even he (or I or anybody here) can make a perfect diagnosis over the fuckin' internet without actually taking two seconds to look at it in person.

Ok, went to start it up before I put on the thing......and it started up perfect. Figures, it doesnt have a problem once it starts up. Thanks for all advice, I can actually drive it to a mechanic now and get it hooked to the computer.
