I'm searching for a new phone for christmas and the Samsung D807 has really caught my eye. A buddy of mine had one and i really liked it alot, but i didn't get to mess around with it too much. If any of you have it I have two big questions.

1. Does it have a vibrate+ring function? I'm horrible at hearing my phone so i need the vibe/ring.
2. Does it have T9 or another style of predictive text for messaging.

Any other opinions would be awesome.

p.s. old thread was dead

The samsung I had two years ago had both of those functions so I think it would be pretty safe to assume that this new phone will have them also.

I'm also in the market for a new phone and would like to hear some first hand user opinions if anyone here has one.

it's got T9 for sure.

It probably DOESN'T have vibrate + ring, which is the single most annoying feature in the otherwise awesome Samsung phone line. (EVERY Samsung phone I've ever owned is incapable of doing this simple task, including my current D600)

of course, you could always buy a flashing cable and grab the custom firmware that inevitably exists to enable this function.

actually i just read that it is possible for Vibe and Ring. Here are directions from a forum...

Quote :
"As for the volume and vibrate modes...they can work at the same time. I too did not realize it when I first got the phone...to activate simply: Go to menu, Go to settings, Go to sound settings, Go to incoming call. This will bring you to the incoming call profile menu. Scroll down the page past ringtone and volume settings to the "alert type" setting. Use your left and right arrow keys to select from "Melody", "Vibration", "Vibration then Melody", or finally "Vibration and Melody". I got my D807 a few weeks ago and it took me a few days to figure that out myself, I've always used Samsung on Sprint's network and things were a little different with volume settings."

Also how do you guys that have the phone feel about the volume? I have read numerous reviews that say its horrible. Is it really that bad or have you figured a way to counteract it?

Have you heard that the volume is too low? I'd like to play with one of these phone in person but I don't know of anywhere that has a real phone. All the stores just have the dummy model which is absolutely useless.

The Cingular store I work at (corporate owned) in Crossroads has a live D807 (and all phones we sell for that matter)

^^yes i have. Most of the user reviews i've read (cnet, etc) have commented that the ringer volume and call volume are low on the highest setting compared to other phones. But there are also people saying its really not low at all yada yada. I haven't personally used the phone either so thats why i was asking.

Any phone is gonna be low when you are at a party or concert. I just want to know if its annoyingly low while riding in the car or at a restaurant cause if so that is inexcusable.
