Hello.....I hate ece but only have about 15 credits left with a fucked up major gpa. Has anyone ever changed their engineering concentration successfully that late into the program. Im basically looking to concentrate in a business/i.t field and have discussed the possiblity with faculty but noone knows how it works. Is there an engineering degree with a concentration in business/i.t, or any other fuckin field that will allow me to finish without having to take those demon ece classes??? PLEASE HELP ME. p.s if there isnt any fuckin option but my ece classes please list the easiest senior electives in ece. just pm me is its like some secret need to know basis type deal.

Industrial engineering is going to be the closest you can get to engineering+business...lean manufacturing, setting up factories, etc.

There are no easy senior ECE electives.

Have you cooped or interned yet? If you haven't, do so and see if you still dislike ECE as much. Beyond that, my recommendation would be to finish out your ECE classes and pick up a second major. You'd be in school for a second year (including summers) and could spread your ECE electives out so they didn't kill you. You mentioned an interest in IT ... the "(BS) BUSINESS MANAGEMENT-INFO TECH CONC" looks like it requires 30-40 hours beyond your ECE degree to complete. You could also finish your ECE degree and go for an MBA with a concentration in IT.

Your best bet would be to talk to some neutral folks outside the ECE department. I'd recommend with Virtual Advising (aka wolfeee): http://www.ncsu.edu/advising_central/. They should still be around this week ... don't let this wait until next semester starts.

i disagree. i thought ece407, ece492k and ece305(though some might disagree with me on that) were all easy seniorish electives

Your major GPA is irrelevant.

Make sure your overall GPA is above a 3.0

492k and 464 were the only two A+ classes i had at state.

coincidentally, i also put in the least amount of effort into them.

haha, i think most would disagree with you, but I'm one of the few that will agree. I loved that class, and it wasn't too difficult if you kept up with the work. It helps to get on Grainger's good side, too

406 was pretty easy, as was the next level course (464 I think?)
463 with was okay, although lots of programming and I wasn't too fond of uProcs

The 492 lasers and fiber optics courses were fucking awesome. I never had Muth, only Kolbas, and he is hands down one of the best profs I've ever had a NCSU. I'm sure the class was hard, but he made it so fun and enjoyable.

I'd stay away from the controls, mechatronics, and power electronics if you hate ECE. I didn't have the best professors for these classes, and didn't enjoy them as much.

doesnt matter what you take. just get that goddamned ECE degree whatever your GPA is. dont be stupid about it. low gpa in ECE > high gpa in business

put me on the disagree list. i thought that it was pretty hard conceptually, especially for a 300-level class--much more so than 302 or 303

Take this advice....Even if you dont want to do ECE the rest of your life you can do technical sales or something very business related with your engineering background and make very good $$$$.

It definately sucked but edmondson will surprise you and give you a halfway decent grade. He said one day in our class that he only expected people to learn ~50% of what he taught.

I too felt this way about ECE and I just went through it and took 402, 421, 420, 492K, and 407 and they all turned out alright with me. My GPA is shitty and I'm still looking for a job after three months but I feel that having a respectable degree is well worth it. Definately go with an internship or co-op if you can but if not just stick with it. After you get your 1st job your GPA won't matter anymore.
