What are some of the best looking blu ray movies to own, for people who have some?

I just got a ps3, so far I have World Trade Center (looks great), Terminator 2 (looks ok), Training day (havnt watched yet), and Taladega Nights (looks ok, could be better)


just got my bonus...i am gonna buy like 4 or 5 more, what would you reccomend?

I wouldn't mind seeing Lord of War on HD/Blu-Ray (too bad its out on bluray only ) but the opening scene with the bullet would look hot!

Movies shot on film have the quality of the film they were shot on. This is not really comparable to any particular digital resolution.

movies shot on film look more impressive in print than they do reproduced digitally since they show more light differences. i would look for something newer that was shot in digital and i would imagine it would look a little better.

hahaha, oh wait. They give bonuses where you work.

^Since it is digital I'm going to go out on a limb and say that they are the same. The only difference is the storage capacity, with BluRay winning out. I guess they could use that extra storage capacity to up the video/audio quality in the future, but they would probably have to upgrade the hardware that displays the content before you'd notice.

The only other main difference b/w the two (other than storage capacity) is the 'special features' capabilities. Blu-Ray will eventually get BD-J, a flavor of java meant to make special features more interactive (some of the stuff I've seen demoed was pretty impressive, while some was pretty gimmicky).

Also, don't know about HD-DVD, but eventually Blu-Ray will be online-enabled (BD-LIVE), so there can be updates to special features on a movie, etc.


when it comes down to it, they're pretty much the same though.

partly true.

But Sony is not alone with this one. They have the majority of the movie studios backing them, and some key partners like Apple, Dell, and Disney.


They might have actually done it right this time. Time will tell.
