specifically a 98 or 99 discovery with about 100k-150k miles. How reliable are they? do they break down often? expensive to maintain? any insight is appreciated.

Are you already a master mechanic...or just wanting to become one?

A six year old Land Rover with 150k miles isn't pimp, poser.

some are reliable, some are not. Scuba Steve ('98 with 108k), my self ('96 with 99k), and baonest's sister ('96 with maybe 120k?) all have pretty reliable Discovery Series ones... Str8BacardiL has a more unreliable one. obviously a more unreliable one will be more to maintain.
