Honda Accord EX V6 2002 78k miles (CarMax)

Subaru Impreza WRX 2002 51k miles (individual, clean carfax report)

both about the same price but i can negotiate some with the individual unlike carmax....

is that carmax warrenty worth it? (seems doubtful to me for a moderately aged honda)

both are silver and both have the majority of options on them...

I'm going to see the WRX tomorrow and am currently leaning towards it....

WRX. lower mileage, better performing. has it been modified though? you don't want it if some kid has beaten on it, especially given their notoriously weak transmissions (at least, for that year)

and don't get the warranty. it's shitty. my dad got one for a car he got at carmax and never used it (corolla)

Scooby unless you're planning to keep it for a decade or put another 150k on the odometer.

AWD > FWD

Turbo > V6

Tall seat bolsters > flat seat bolsters.

etc > etc.

If it was me personally I would get the WRX no doubt. Just be advised it must have premium grade gas.

yeah, the wrx has over a year less 'use' than the accord...

WRX

that's like asking "would you rather get a blowjob from Angelina Jolie, or have your dick clamped in a vise and bitten by a rattlesnake?"

The Accord V6 needs premium too if I recall correctly. Well, Honda says it does anyways, it wouldn't be as sensitive to lower grades as the Scooby would.

wrx it is!

lol

the thread is just checking what I already thought. the only other person at home that knows anything about cars is my brother.

best part is i only need a small loan to cover it (about 1/2 total) so I'll pay this sucker off in a little more than a year....

i can deal paying a touch more for gas....

^^^^^ not a bad choice, depending on who you are and what your abilities and desires are.

not a good choice for anyone who even THOUGHT about this question, much less made a thread asking about it.

You gotta lug your ass to the freakin' DMV, I'm sure. 'specially if it's being bought from an individual.

To continue this thread instead of starting a new one;

What do people think about the Mazda 3? I want a newer car, and these things look sweet in my opinion.

You mean the MazdaSpeed 3?

Nice interiors/creature comforts. Decent performance. Great car all around for the price. Go for it.

See link here for Motor Trend's opinion: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/wagon/112_0611_sport_wagon_and_sedan_comparison

go with the honda

i just bought a 2004 Honda Accord EX V6 w/ 28K miles from Autopark Honda in Cary about 2 months ago:

smooth ride, handles great on the highway
has a lot of power, you really don't need a faster car unless you plan on racing
very nice leather interior
most reliable engine out there
and most importantly, the car depreciates far less rapidly than other models and is much easier to sell

[Edited on January 9, 2007 at 10:42 AM. Reason : (for the record, it takes regular gas, not premium like someone ^ suggested)]

MAZDA3 or MAZDASPEED3?

I drive a Mazda 3 (5 door, ~150hp, 5 speed) and it's not a performance car nor a luxury car, but I like it. The Mazdaspeed version has an additional 100hp (at the cost of lower gas mileage, an additional $5k sticker, and probably higher insurance.) My advice is to test drive them both and decide for yourself if you think the extra performace is worth the cost. I think the 2.3l 3s with the manual tranny has plenty of zip around town. It's happy cruising at 80 on road trips and still has enough power to pass uphill. Zoom-zoom.

If I want more performance, I have a motorcycle.
