Just need a modem to hook my 360 up for Xbox Live

The motorola surfboard one seems to be popular & is online for 20 bucks after rebates, so I'll buy it from someone for $10 (neg.)

Explain what you're trying to do. You can't just get a modem and hook it to your cable in most situations.

Well I basically want to just hook my 360 up to the internet... My comp is upstairs & the 360 is downstairs, so I figured the simplest way would just to be to get another modem just for the 360.. Granted I have to configure some info from my ISP I think, Am I being a dumbass somehow???

I have a router, actually a wireless & a regular... But the wireless uses USB & is made by Belkin so it sucks. And I could possibly run ethernt cable through the wall, but that will just be a pain in the ass.

well i know time warner won't give you two modems, 2 ip's for a total of 10mbit. I have no idea if there's some way to share your bandwith on 2 ip's. They'd charge you an extra 5 or 10 a month though for it. I'd just take a day and snake some cat5e through the wall, run two strands and put a dual jack there or something so you can just plug a patch cable into the wall, and have an extra for a future PC or something /shrug.
