I've fished at Lake Johnson over 20 times and never caught a turtle. Guess i got lucky...

It is pretty cheap to fish out there. Rent one of their small boats... If you have to rent a battery it will be a little more expensive. Bring your own battery and it is cheaper.

Without giving away all my favorite spots, you should fish around some of the main points and coves. Try to cast towards the shore and reel towards the boat. I've had luck with everything from topwater baits to cranks.

in my experience, lake johnson is a waist of time and costs too much. I like Fred G. Bond Metro Park in cary. its a lot cheaper (if you plan to fish for longer than an hour) and the fish aren't as skiddish (spelling??). The only problem is, it is closed for most of the fall/winter months.

it only costs something if you don't want to fish from the bridge or shore

can you bring your own canoe or kayak or jon boat?

i think you can bring your own jonboat as long as it is registered..etc... since it is a lake

i'm not sure of the price difference though. just take your own battery and it only costs like 3 or 4 bucks an hour, or 15 bucks a day to fish out there....and that is renting their boat and motor
