Please help me. When I make a new bulleted list for some reason my tabs aren't working to indent and tier the list. If anyone knows how to fix this, I would be greatly indebted to you. This has been driving me crazy! Thanks.

Format > Bullets and Numbering > click on every box and see if the "Reset" button at the bottom left of that window lights up - if it does, reset all of them to the default. Do this for all 4 tabs (Bulleted, Numbered, Outline Numbered, and List Styles)

Select the text you want to bullet
Pull down the formatting drop-down menu and click "Clear Formatting"
Then with that text still selected, click the bullets button
Place your cursor at the beginning of the line you want to tab in - use your Tab key. If that doesn't work, use the increase and decrease indent buttons next to the Bulleting button on your Formatting toolbar. If parts of your formatting toolbar are hidden, drag the entire toolbar to its own line using the 4 dots at the very left of that toolbar as a draggable area.

I always just do a lot of trial and error with the:

- Tab
- Shift+Tab
- Backspace
- Space

I usually get something that looks ok

ok, so i still have this problem and im on the brink of self destruction.

basically, hopefully this will help, the problem is this:

normally when you start a bulleted or numbered list, once you type a line you can hit enter to start a new line. On that new line, to indent the bullet or number you simply hit the Tab button and the whole bullet moves, thus resulting in tiered outlines and lists.

when i hit tab the bullet doesn't move, just the blinking cursor.

[Edited on January 15, 2007 at 2:29 PM. Reason : don't use the tab key, use Alt-Shift-Right Arrow]
