anyone know what a rebuild for a 400 smallblock would run these days??
its in my 75 vette so i want it done right with preferable time dated parts or something that will look good when i go to resell but not take away from the value of this car

would love to use the same block and all so the numbers match instead of gettin a crate one from Jegs

lemme know what u think

need more details. how did the motor die, what kind of rebuild (stock or performance), are you pulling and installing the motor, etc.

at least you've learned no on is going to do it for free.

Junk the goddamn 400. But grab the crank first and build you a mean 383.

rebuild kit with pistons, rings, bearings, gaskets, oil pump from summit ~$320

head job, boring and cleaning block, milling heads and deck, and align hone ~$350

it can be done decently for less than a grand if you throw in a roller cam and roller rockers, intake and headers

^^normally i'd be with you, but consider the car. it will retain and gain more value as a numbers matching car. c3's are finally starting to steadily gain value.
^at the least, this guy is going to need short block assembly also, if not the whole thing judging fomr his previous thread. or at least if he has any sense he's going to pay someone to do it or help him since he's never done it. he might could handle the pulling/installation on his own or with a friend if he's mechanically inclined at all.

Numbers matching would be nice, but no Corvette came with a 400.

Yes, yes...somebody knows the deal here.

The only engine you could get was a 350. Not even a big block.
