I know I posted a similar thread couple of months back...but I need some reassurance.
I have a 04 Acura RSX-S. I was involved in a wreck and need a body shop to go to.
So I called up Leith Acura and asked the service people if they could recommend a GOOD body shop and they told me to go to Kenny Hawkins. But the last time I posted a thread about the best body shops around the area, someone posted a link to a news website page where they were talking about Kenny Hawkins and how they do shotty work on people cars and replace parts with used parts and stuff like that.

SO... can anyone back that up or dispute that?
Should I bring my car to Hawkins?

DO NOT go to kenny hawkins. it took 4 times before they could get my mom's car right, and it was still never the same, and they did a shitty job on both of my cars. also my sis was in a wreck a few years back, said they fixed everything but she took it to another shop for some routine work and come to find out, her frame was bent but KH had claimed everything was fixed.

I own a Lexus and when I had to get word done on my car I have taken it to True2Form. They are not the fastest place to get your car fixed, but I have never had a problem with their work. Its hard to find honest shops around raleigh, but I do send my friends to True2Form.

no it was before that. those pics were 2 years ago. the first time we took it there, a larger branch had fallen on the hood of the car and left a dent across the top of the wagon, so she took it there to get it fixed. it forever was messed up on the inside after that.

and thanks on the condolences.

my sis's car was before my mom's- we thought everything was okay with hers but found out much later that it wasn't. first car of mine we took there was my mom's doing, that was the only shop she had experience with and someone had just bumped into the back and broken the tail light and dented it, so we didn't think it would be a big deal. misaligned the trunk, said they'd paint match and they didnt, but it was an older car so i let it slide. then when i took my honda- same thing- i didnt have experience anywhere else and my family knows ppl there, buuuut stuff has gone way downhill.

kenny hawkins did great on my car, but they could be a little more reassuring.

also my car wasn't ready when they said it was going to be.

If you want really good job take a look at performance. They have some weird hours but from every one that i take there (work at enterprise and take ppl back to shop) they are super happy with the car.

also true2form bought out another company b/c they were really shitty and my moms car got taken there and not super happy with it

I have seen/worked with cars that have been through Kenny Hawkins for several years through shops around the area, and have never had any reason to suspect that they do sub-par work. If I needed work done, that's where my money would go.

Asking for feedback on the internet is risky, you never know the quality of the replies.

quite true, especially on this board. you can bet 9 out of 10 replies are worthless.

i take the very few vehicles that i actually care about the body on to jeffrey's and son on lake wheeler rd. i dunno if they're the best around, but they do decent work and i get the "friend of the family" hookup.

used to go to jimmy coats down in fuquay, but he passed away a few years back. he did AWESOME work, and kept it old school with his metal work. a true artist.

i've heard mixed reviews about kenny hawkins, like optmusprimer said it sounds like his work has gone downhill for some reason in the past few years.

Here's my 2 cents' worth:

I think Kenny Hawkins does excellent work...on big-dollar european imports. That's their specialty.

However...on any "run-of-the-mill" insurance claim job, I think they get a little pissy about the lower profit margin, and tend to do subpar work. I've heard complaints for the last ten years about this kind of thing. They take too long, they miss details here and there, they don't replace what they're supposed to, etc.

Bottom line is: you have a Bimmer or a Mercedes or a Porsche or the like, and the corresponding insurance policy to match, you'll get good service. Anything else...you're fair game.
