i've been parking behind a friend's house using a guest pass when i go to class. however, he moved out over break, and his landlord bitched me out this morning for still parking there. i've never parked back in those neighborhoods. how strict do they enforce the 2 hour parking? anyone know any other options?

they're pretty strict. I know a few people who have received tickets for parking over 2 hours.

I lived back there and parked on the cul-de-sac once (city-owned) and got ticketed. If your time is more valuable than your money, sure go ahead and do it. Otherwise, find an alternate way that is more timely, but not as expensive.

can't remember the street name but the road next to the carolina equipment company building is free parking ... I used to park there all the time, but you hafta get there early or rather late (before 9 or after 4 basically) and if you leave, don't expect it to still be open. I stopped parking there once I got a DD pass and because I didn't want to get there that damned early since I have mostly late AM classes

There are several streets just a bit farther back than the 2 hr ones that have no restrictions.

But if you're a junior or senior I would pony up and get a good parking pass. I think my DC permit was 277 last year, but it's good for 365 days and if you decide to roll out or chill for the summer they give you back 50 or so. Bascially you get to park all year for about 75 cents a day.
