I think this is officially worse than lining up for star trek or anime conventions.

I'm gonna try to hit one up here in Maine.

Our technet subscription will get us free liscenses for vista and office anyway, but it would be nice to have my own copy. Also, they usually do have good information for folks who will actually be using their stuff in a corporate environment.

on a Thursday from 7:45am - 3:30pm?

i guess they expect it to be all people from businesses that attend and get the day off. I wouldn't mind going however, you could probably make a tidy profit off of selling your copy if you dont want it. I'm already getting mine from the powertogether thing a few weeks ago

and they dont even give you a CD... it says they give you an access code so that you can go download the program

"1990's? DirectX 9 was released in like 2002. Also, it should be noted that yeah, run it on your p3-800 and get ready for the slideshow. I mean, I know that aero glass is bloated and I don't really understand why microsoft needs a watercooled rig with SLI to get the same UI effects as OS X, but whatever. I've got a 12" powerbook thats 6 years old that can do expose and all of the other little GUI effects effortlessly, but for vista I need to get another gig of ram just so i can still get the same performance out of photoshop that I did on xp."

good point actually.....

i'm headed out in a few mins, it's always nice to get free software for a few hours of my time at a conference.

you'd think with all the focus on mobility nowadays that they'd really prioritize being able to do more with less

he totally misunderstood the dude's question about encrypting traffic over wifi so you wouldn't have to ssh tunnel and stuff.

I was the dude with glasses that went up and asked him questions twice, questions you would have thought would be answered in the presentation. Like how NAP is implemented, what features will be trickling down to xp, etc.

so, i'm sitting in the back left corner of the developer track. i'm only giving half of my attention, so far he's been showing us a demo of how vista and office 2007 works and how a typical user uses it ... i can't imagine what developer in this room hasn't seen either in action before. hopefully he gets to the "how it works" and "how we make your job <strike>easier</strike> harder" soon.

i'm currently bored of him, but looking forward to picking up ofc 2007 when it's done.
